Your Rules for Tuesday, August 10, 2004

question.

This is related to the Castle of the Wasp question, but different enough it is worth asking. If I am playing City of Rememberence, and I use the once per turn, your shugenja does not have to bow to perform an Innate ability with Toshiji. I discard the spell, saying I am using the once per turn on the Stronghold.

You can't do it that way. It is out of order. First you announce the Spell. Then you target with it. Then you pay costs, including using effects that waive or modify costs.

My opponent casts Flee the Darkness [don't ask me why]. The action is canceled, so it didn't happen, so I can do it again.

You can't Flee Toshiji's action. Flee only works with the opponent chooses one of your Personalities as a target. Toshiji forces YOU to choose one of your people to bow.

Diplomatic Apprentice

If a personality with a Diplomatic Apprentice is bowed can you bow the Diplomatic Appentice to pay the cost of bowing to perform a political action since it is bowed instead of the personality?

Yes, provided said ability is not printed on the bowed Personality (can't use abilities on bowed cards or strongholds), does not involve the bowed Personality issuing a Challenge or casting a Spell, and it does not explicitly require the Personality to be unbowed (I don't think any bowing-costed Actions do this).

Forward observer [rules]

Real quickly, if my ooponent plays a terrain (doesn't matter which) and I use my forward observer to switch it to my side, can I then play Well Prepared?

No. Forward Observer says that the TERRAIN produces effects as if you control it. This has no impact on how other cards produce their effects. Well Prepared (and every other card, stronghold, or effect other than the Terrain) still sees that the Terrain is really under the control of another player.

Ratling Raider

Ok with the tomorrow sensei coming out , Ratling Raiders Additional copies, when they die, they stay in your discard pile too?

Yes. They are cards, after all. They behave just like any other card. They ARE NOT tokens. Any stats that are not provided when the card is created (like Gold Cost and Honor Requirement) are set to 0 when the card is created. You can shuffle them back as 2/2 0/0/2 Ratling Creature Personalities.

That should be everything for Tuesday not related to Wrath of the Emperor. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in a clear and distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
