Your Rules for Monday, July 26, 2004
My opponent produced a ranged attack from an attacking personality against me, and played No Hiding Place to redirect it to one of my personalities at home:
"Reaction: Play before producing a ranged attack from exactly one of your attacking cards in the current battle to target a card in the Defender's home with that ranged attack. The ranged attack has -1 strength."
He then played Tsuruchi Technique to pump the RA enough to kill the personality:
"Reaction: When one of your units makes a ranged attack, raise its strength by 3."
The TO said that he didn't think this could be done (based on his own experience with Daidoji Akagi and No Hiding Place, see below), because it made the RA come from more than one card. However, I argued that it seemed ok, because the RA came from exactly one of the attacking cards - Tsuruchi Technique is not an attacking card in this case.
It is still a Ranged Attack from that one card. Modifying the Strength of a Ranged Attack or the size of an Honor Loss does not change anything about the source of such an effect. It is still a Ranged Attack from your Attacker, not Tsuruchi Technique. A Combined Ranged Attack would be prohibited, though.
As an aside, the player used Castle of the Wasp's ability to stop his personality from bowing when producing this ranged attack. I don't remember if he explicitly mentioned it, but I don't think it would cause a problem in this case, since I had units in the battle. So he creates a RA, targets an opposing card, redirects the target with No Hiding Place, then pumps the RA strength with Tsuruchi Technique. Seems reasonable to me.
He does not redirect. No Hiding Place is played before you choose targets for the Ranged Attack. Consequently, you can not use Castle of the Wasp to waive the cost of bowing for such a Ranged Attack because you are not targeting an opposing card like the Stronghold's trait text requires.

Looks like there was only one question for Monday, too. If I missed your non-Wrath question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
Thank you, - Marty Lund
