Yajinden- Maho Force of Will Combo?
Spellcaster Perp A has been Playing With Darkness, then Force of Will is attached. Spellcaster A casts Force of Will (becomes Maho) on Yajinden, switching his 0 honor and 6 Chi. Yajinden redirects the '6 point Chi loss' to an enemy perp, odds are killing it outright.
The card in question is "Playing with Madness," but you've got the mechanics down properly.
This seems totally wrong, and am hoping my local playgroup has it wrong. Is this scenario truly a -6C change to Yajinden, thus becoming something he can redirect, or is it a resetting of his Chi value, thus redirecting a 0 (no change) C to another perp just before he in turn coincidentally dies for having 0C?
What is this "resetting" of which you speak? Page 62 of the Diamond Edition Rulebook, under the heading "Bonuses and Penalties" clearly states, "Any time the current number on a card changes from one value to a higher value, that number is receiving a 'bonus' - unless the reason for the increase is that a penalty expires or an existing penalty or bonus changed. Likewise, if a number decreases, it's receiving a 'penalty.'
If you move the Chi from 6 to 0, you've given someone -6Chi. It is that simple.
Put another way, Wedge and Berzerker Rage do not actually increase force, they merely reset it based on some formula. The new value is indeed higher than the previous, but it is technically NOT a force increase, and so not eligible for force gain reactions such as Overconfidence.
Nope. That's completely false. Berserker Rage and Wedge both create Force Bonuses as well, typically +X where X = targets current Force at the time of doubling. They are both subject to Overconfidence to great effect.
Joke
"3000 dollars!!" exclaims the man. "What can that one do?"
To which the owner replies, "To be honest, I've never seen it do a single thing, but it calls itself a Consultant."
Happy Birthday, Marty!
MY momma always told me I should've been a consultant. Did I listen? Noooooo.
And how did you manage to do poorly in NJ last weekend? Rallying Cry isn't even Diamond legal, so not drawing any Rallies shouldn't matter anymore...
There are worse things than leaving your Rallies on the bottom of your deck. Leaving your brain in your other pants, not getting enough sleep, and failing to reset your deck for movement out of the local metagame are all pretty big problems:
- I blew up a Quartermaster unnecessarily against the second Scorpion I played. The gold it would have provided next turn to by a holding and the gold they'd have both provided the next turn would've one me the game. It was a complete bonehead play.
- Forgetting your opponent can drop Commanding Favor to drop your Kaneka to 0F is bad.
- I'm not accepting any responsibility for failing to have the 1 additional gold I needed to kill the last province on that Unicorn player though. He even managed to shank me with Spearhead / North Province swap. I still missed out on Shrine to Hotei not being an Iron Mine. :P
In short, drink more caffeine before tournaments, be more anti-social, and don't answer anyone's rules questions while your still playing in a match, even if you are the Deputy Rules Monkey. :)
Just a clairifaction
Does the current ruling that additional actions granted by cards are considered actions themselves (see SupStrat and Lotus At Dusk) make it where the addition action granted by COaaT is considered the second action from KG? Or would it work like this:
Use KG Battle Action Play COaaT (1st KG battle action) Issue first challenge (from COaaT) Issue second challenge (2nd KG battle action)
Just wanted to make sure how it works before I put it to use.
It works as outlined in your example. You'd get 2 Actions from Kyuden Gotei, but then Come One At A Time would interject a new one in between the two from Kyuden Gotei. They wouldn't be "consecutive" anymore, but that's OK. Jeff got this question back with Blade of Thorns. "Extra" Actions just interject themselves in the middle of whatever order existed previously. No harm, no foul.
And that's all for the non-Wrath question for Friday. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in a distinct and clear subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
