Rules for 16 July 2004
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
As Marty's away for the weekend (getting to play, lucky man), I'm handling daily rules Q&A for a few days.
return to game
i wonder if come into play abilities, or traits occur if a personality returns into play from a discard pile (i.e. ratling raiders comes back with feing death or with sepun yin)[.]
Yes.
and what with shugs. and their traits?
Not sure what you're asking here.
Jigoku Sensei
I will not be answering any specific questions about this card -- or any other Wrath of the Emperor preview -- until it releases in August. Sorry.
Discard
What does the word "discard" mean in L5R?
To place into the discard pile.
Rules Problem - Jigoku Sensei Wording
Is this sensei a Shadowland card???
No (Diamond rules, Pg. 64).*
Questions
Is attaching a Follower, Item, Ancestor or Spell to a Personality an action performed by him?
No (Diamond rules, pg. 71).
When an Event is reshuffled into the Dynasty deck due to Avoid Fate, which happens first: the refilling of the Province or the reshuffling of the Event?
Shuffling (card text).
fires in the hidden city
face-up event i can't understand, once they go face-up, the pop off right?
Dynasty cards can be turned over outside the events phase, in which case the event will stay where it is.
Binding Kharma clarification [RULES]
would it be safe to say that Binding Kharma can copy prior-to-start-of-game abilities, but that these abilities will have no effect, since play has already started?
It's not safe to say that. Very risky. Better wait until Wrath of the Emperor releases. ;)
Rules - Tactician & in search of the future
Considering that tac is a rulebook action, does that mean that in search of the future nukes tactician force bonuses?
Yes (card text).
{rules} sensei
If sensei cards are no longer fate cards that go in your deck, how does that affect A New Teacher from Honor Bound which lets you put another sensei into play from your hand?
Not answered since I don't have the Wrath of the Emperor rulesheet.

* This answer not guaranteed to be accurate after Wrath of the Emperor releases. I'm answering this one because it's a general Sensei question, not about this particular card.
