To J. Alexander: Gold Buys Security
Hi, I've an hope (not a question, just an hope) about "Gold Buys Security": It seems that its effect is permanent (and it's so expensive that it must be!),
Incorrect. The effect does not say it is permanent. The duration is, by default, until the end of the turn. You can possibly assign and move a Personality into battle more than once a turn, btw, which is why the card says, "each time" even though it only lasts one turn.
The 38th Hantei Falls + Contested Holding [RULES]
A player has the four "Walls of Otosan Uchi" attached to a province; his opponent uses Contested Holding to gain control of one of the four "Walls"; Will the player be able to win when The 38th Hantei Falls resolves?
If you don't control the card, you typically don't "have it in play," even if it is attached to your province. Contested holding removes the card from your control, so you won't be able to make the 4-Walls victory.
Ownership of created cards and tokens
I missed an obvious answer to a question in the previous digest because I overlooked the entry for "Owner" in the Glossary on Page 102. For cards and tokens created in mid-game, the owner is the player that created them.
Combining Range Attacks
Hi Marty,
Hey!
my question regards the combining of range attacks of items and the Personalities they are attached to.
Take for example Ryouko the Phoenix favourite immortal rooster. He has a Yumi of Fire attached. Can I combine the Yumi's Range Attack with the innate range attack of Ryouko? If not why?
You'd need to combine the Ryouko's attach with the first RA of the Yumi's action, since it makes 2 consecutive attacks, and you have to declare Combined Ranged Attacks when the Action is announced, before targeting.
I know that an old gold ruling from 22 Jul 2003 by Vaughn on a similiar case ruled No and I am sure myself that it should not be possible to combine these two attacks.
Vaughn's old ruling went with the Gold Edition rules. The rules set has changed and it isn't in the archive, so you shouldn't have any trouble. The Yumi makes 2 RAs and the Rooster makes 1 (even though it bows to pay the cost of the Yumi's RAs).
That should be everything from Thursday. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in a distinct, clear subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
