wedge and pointless sacrifice

Is it possible to use Pointless Sacrifice at a battle in which you used wedge on a unit, and still add that units force for the sake of using the PS? I guess the main point of concern is when I have actually "won" the battle, per the wording on Pointless Sacrifice.

Yes, you can. You've "won" the battle once the Force Totals are tallied up (assuming there was a Defending Army).

Wedge doesn't kill you until the battle ends, which is significantly later on than "after your army wins a battle."

Ranged Attack Combination

From rulebook : "Each card may add only one attack to the total; a card cannot combine ranged attacks with itself"

Ok, the problem is : what does it exactly means

There is a great write-up on this subject in the L5R FAQ.

In summary however: Ranged Attacks come from whatever card the Action making the Ranged Attack is considered to be on - beit a Spell, Personality, Follower, or Item.

You can combine Ranged Attacks from an Item and a Personality.

You can not combine two Ranged Attacks from a single Personality, such as with Mirumoto Taiu or a Personality with a built-in Ranged Attack and the Ranged Attack granted by Archer Squad.

Imperial Messenger Question

Can I use Imperial Messenger on A) Dirty Politics B) Unrequited Love ???

Yes to Dirty Politics. It has a printed honor loss, even if it isn't numeric.

No to Unrequited Love, the Honor Loss is conditional. Imperial Messenger doesn't trigger on actions that "may" cause honor loss, but Actions that "will."

FWD from Jeff: Mighty Protection

Here is a rapid response from Jeff.

- Marty Lund Deputy Rules Monkey

The card specifically returns the cards to play "at the end of the resolution phase [sic]". If there is no Resolution Segment, nothing comes back. If there is one, they come back when it ends.

Book of Air

I know that the Book of Air produces 1F/1C personality cards in the battle. I just want to know if they are also considered as tokens.

Things are not tokens unless you are explicitly told that they are tokens.

That should be everything from Tuesday. If I missed your question from that day, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of your clear and distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
