Your Rules for Wednesday, June 9, 2004

Just to let you know, I'm including forwarded posts from Jeff into this digest now. I'll try my best not to miss any.

Fwd from Jeff: Tr-ch'da

Just forwarding this answer along, regarding what items are legit targets for Tr-ch'da's Reaction.

- Marty Lund Deputy Rules Monkey

It must be an Item that was attached to an opposing Personality at the time he was destroyed.

Fwd from Jeff: Move the Earth and conflicting region effects

But wait! There's more!

This is another one of those logged questions coming back from upstairs. This time, Jeff takes on two Regions saying contradictory things about the Province's ability to hold Dynasty Cards. I'm noted in ">>" and Jeff is in ">" at the very bottom two lines.

- Marty Lund Deputy Rules Monkey

Hey Jeff,

My best guess on this one is: "Last introduced region effect wins" sort of like last played "I go first" reaction wins.

I don't have any better ideas about this. Seems down right silly.

What do you think?

- Marty

--- In, I have in play a Togashi's Shrine, and a Plains of Otosan Uchi. I attach Move the Earth to Kuni Jiyuna, an Earth Shugenja, and move the Plains of Otosan Uchi to the Province where Togashi's Shrine is.

Now, I have one region that says, "This province does not hold dynasty cards," and another that says

"This province holds two dynasty cards."

So, how many dynasty cards does that province hold?

Yes, go with the "Last Region to come into effect" ruling.

Fwd from Jeff: Kolat Bookkeeper / Meddling with Costs

Another answer passed down the line to you, the gentle reader.

- Marty Lund Deputy Rules Monkey

Hey, Jeff, I could use your help on this one. Basically, Jubal wants to know if someone nukes his Stronghold with Kolat Bookkeeping, does he have to bow all his Gold Producing holdings to try and fill the gold-gap even if they won't finish the bill - or just enough to cover the part of the cost that the Stronghold wouldn't have covered?

The rule in other cases when a payment is interfered with is that the player can elect to try to meet the

cost anyway or allow the payment to fail. To stay consistent with that, I'd rule that he doesn't have to try paying the remainder, regardless of whether he can.

And, actually, there weren't any new questions on the 9th anyway, so that should just about do it. Again, if I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
