Shining Example Question

Shining Example by it's wording, gives a 1/+1 bonus to all your Samuari in play.

If you use Summon Air Kami and resolve a different battle, they still have the +1/+1, correct?

Bah, Summon Air Kami. I'm making anything related to that card Jeff's problem, since nearly every extrapolation from that thing is intent-based.

Forwarded.

Gurban Questions

1) I have Moto Gurban in battle opposed, with Senpet Scimitar. I attached the scimitar outside of battle. Is gurban's +1F trait for having an constantly rechecked so does she have 9 force while in battle opposed?

I don't know what you are talking about.

Gurban gave herself +1F when you attached the Scimitar. You weren't opposed then, so the Scimitar didn't modify the bonus. Now that you are opposed, it is too late. Gurban has 8 Force (3 + 1 + 4).

2) In an open game, the previous turn I play daisho technique on Gurban. The next turn Gurban is in a battle opposed. I play weapon's cache, attaching (and paying) two senpet scimitars. Hows the force calculated? Are they attached seperatly or all at once?

Attaching two Scimitars simultaneously doesn't seem to create any timing conflicts. Each ensuing bonus would be at +2. So you'd get +3 from Gurban, and +6 from each Scimitar, for a total of 18 Force (3 + 6 + 6 + 3).

Lots of questions.

<SNIP a bunch of examples of Canceled Actions>

Read page 72 of the Diamond Edition Rulebook, "Canceling Actions and Negating Effects."

"The attempt does not count against any maximum of uses per game/turn/battle/etc."

inclusion of exclusive personalities

i don't have a rulebook on hand, but is it legal to include personalities that will not join you faction in your dynasty deck? unless there's a screw-ball exception, i assume they are.

There is no rule on file forbidding it.

Fushin and Taking control

Well, is the following legal : I have a dishonnored personality at home (the peep is mine). I have fushin at the current battle. I use the action of fushin on my own dishonnored peep. The "taking control" part gets negated since it is already mine. But the peep is moved into my army.

Sure. No problem with it.

On: Fushin
"Tani Hitokage" vs "Explored Territory"

Are Strongholds considered "cards in play" and their effects are also considered as "card effects"?

Strongholds are NOT cards.

Their effects, therefore, are not card effects.

Direct assault

Direct asault requires an opposing player. extrapolating from

[MARTY] "An opposing player" means "a player who controls a card opposing Ieshige in the current battle." [JA, 4 December 2003] (Accumulated Rulings, Akodo Ieshige)

does this mean that I can only destroy holdings if there are opposing cards in the battle? I am assuming it does.. thanks.

It does mean that, yes. You can't destroy holdings with Direct Assault unless there are opposing units.

OK, that looks like everything for Friday. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.

Thanks folks,
