Yajinden and Set'tchr'foo
Yajinden gains control of a Set'tchr'foo. Set'tchr'foo pops and goes into the current controller's deck per above. Yajinden unbows and assumes control over another Personality. When Set'tchr'foo re-enters play from a Province, does Set'tchr'foo immediately go back to the original owner? I'm venturing the answer is yes, but that leads to a second question:
No way. Control and ownership are different animals.
If you pay to bring Set'tchr'foo into play from your Province, you're her default controller while she remains in play. The only reason an owner is usually the initial controller is because the owner is usually the only person who has the option to bring those cards into play.
Card effects like Kolat Recruiter or the above-mentioned Steal + Shuffle trick change that situation, allowing a player to bring cards he or she does not own into play under his or her control.
If both players are playing with Ratlings, specifically Set'tchr'foo, I'm guessing placing a slip of paper or a marker inside the *front* of the sleeve would be permitted to resolve which Matron is whose if necessary? Or is this more of a TO question and handled case by case?
More of a TO, case-by-case, "use your best judgment," sort of situation.
Open Terrain Question.
My opponent is playing Shironai Toshi. I play a terrain, then my opponent plays one with ST. Can I play another using Go Master, destroying one of them, or is it prohibited since there would still be one in play?
I'm going to forward this to Jeff.
[RULES} Mercy Shrouds the Earth
Now if the terrain was a Delayed Terrain, the window for opportunity to play this be from the time the terrain was played.. right up until the terrain resolves after everyone has passed for the current battle. Is this correct?
You must any the Reaction at the first window of opportunity to do so, or not at all. You can't wait.
The part about "before it resolves" is really there to remind people that an Action is successfully "played" immediately before a normal action would resolves its effects.
Terrain Question.
If you put an Explored Territory into play, then later [before it was used up], you play Overwhelmed, I assume the ET prevents you from paying the cost [as it is not optional], allows you to draw a card, and then ...? Does the Overwhelmed A>go to the discard pile, B>do you have to destroy the personality after allto pay the cost, C>CAN you destroy the personality to pay the costs again, or D>does Overwhelmed return to your hand since you could not pay all the costs?
You choose between C and D. Page 72 of the Diamond Edition Rulebook, 3rd Paragraph, "Canceling Actions and Negating Effects" says:
"If all or part of the cost of using an action or bringing a card into play is prevented, the player trying to take the action or play the card may either use further resources to complete the payment or allow the attempt to be cancelled. If canceled, the player returns the card to where it came from and does not receive a refund on any remaining costs, Gold or otherwise, already paid."
Scrutiny's Sweet Sting and Danjuro
If I play SSS on to remove the Shugenja trait from a personality, can Danjuro redirect the action to himself. Can I opt to remove a trait that a card does not posess?
"Signs fuzzy. Ask again later."
My Magic 8-ball does not love me today, I guess. ;-)
Seriously though, the Rules Team is currently discussing this in conjunction with the "Decisions" ruling in the Archive. I'll get back to you as soon as I get some closure.
Traveling Ronin vs. Ik'krt
If someone attaches "Traveling Ronin" to a personality from their hand during battle, does that count as a follower "performing" an action for the sake of Ik'krt's reaction?
No. Traveling Ronin do not Perform any Action when you attach them. What goes on does not fit under any of the criteria on Page 71 of the DE Rulebook.

Subterfuge question
I can't remember if this questionhas been answered before. Can Subterfuge be played in a battle where you have no units?
Sure. Subterfuge is a Reaction. You do not need Presence or Relevance to play Reactions. (Diamond Edition Rulebook, pp 80-81)
Strange question
I have units at province A and province B. I start the battle at province A and play Strategic Crossroads. I then play Summon Air Kami and go to do the battle at province B. Can I move units from province B to province A? In other words, does Strategic Crossroads phrasing "this battle" refer to the battle at province A or the current one?
Well, since Summon Air Kami breaks something on the order of a zillion rules, I'm going to improvise here. Just ignore the Terrain in the suspended battle until you go back to resolving that battle. It should only have an effect in the battle it is present at.
Oh, and Leon, Jeff asked me to tell you to get off his list. ;-)
Direct Assault... An vs. The
Am I correct in assuming that, since Direct Assault read "...to destory an opposing unit or holding controled by an opposing player", it may not be used if there are no cards in the opposing army?
Correct.
That looks like everything from Saturday that wasn't addressed in its own thread somewhere. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] in the subject line and I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
