Question about Oracle of Water
If I have Kuon(exp3) attack Prov A and he wins and Rallycrys can I use the action on the Oracle of Water to bring in Kuon into the current battle at Prov B?
As already noted, the Most Recent Printing of Oracle of Water merely requires that the unit move from your home to the current battle. Kuon goes back to your home after his battle, so you can use the Oracle on him.
Isawa's Helm Question
Can I bow A shugenja to cancel a range strike targeting a Follower in a unit that has an Isawa's Helm? What about Yakamo destroying an Item?
No. Isawa's Helm bows to, "cancel any action targeting this unit."
This will only cancel actions that say they target the unit, or say they target the Personality leading the unit.
"An effect that targets the unit also targets the Personality leading it, and vice-versa." (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page 73, last line in italics)
Political Interference [Rules]
Player A is on 12 honour and attempts to buy Doji Kurohito (Exp 2) for full. He bows 13 gold. Player B plays Political Interference on Player A. Player A cannot lose 2 honor otherwise Kurohito cannot enter play. Can Player A now decide not to pay the full 13 gold for Kurohito and buy him without honour instead (i.e. for 11 gold)?
The cost isn't paid yet, so he can choose to reduce it or produce more gold for it by whatever means he has available, including the rulebook discount.
Dirty Politics
Let's say that first turn I buy a Maru. My opponent's second turn, he attempts to buy a seruma at full, so I DP the honor gain, then rhetoric the honor loss back to my opponent. Is seruma still allowed to enter play since my opponent is at 4 FH?
That's pretty mean, but it does say in the Accumulated Rulings:
"A Personality's honor requirement must be met before, during, and after paying costs." (Accumulated Rulings, "Honor Requirements")
And it does say on page 59 of the Diamond Edition Rulebook that you resolve the Honor Gain before the Personality enters play.
So it looks to me like if you converted that gain into a loss, it would keep the Personality just paid for from entering play.
You're officially on the "Bad Persons" list for even thinking about it. ;-)
Iron Pillar question
Can Iron Pillar be used to prevent the destruction of personalities during the resolution segment of a battle?
Yes. It gives every Follower the ability of Decoy, without the pesky self-destruction clause or the restriction of having to only negate the destruction of their unit's Personality.
Wow, that's way more useful than I originally thought it would be. Savage beatings on the defense, and ridiculously efficient with Personalities that have Yu, Ranged Attacks, Bowing abilities, or even Tactician + Retribution.
Savage Beatings.
OK, looks like that is everything from Sunday, April 25 that didn't get answered by in-thread. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] contained somewhere in a descriptive subject line.
Thanks folks,
