rules for 2-3 March 2004

The trait of Agasha Chieh Exp. causes her entire unit to be considered in the current battle, not just herself. This is a REVERSAL.

Jeff,

How does the trait, allow followers attached to Chieh outside of a battle to bow and perform a range attack or peasant vengence, or fear effect. If Chieh had an item on her that allowed her to perform a FEAR effect, would she be able to perform this fear effect in every battle?

Can Chieh act as an ally, without actually going to battle or having presence?

Perhaps this reversal is a little too far, or we are misunderstanding the full extent of this ruling?

Her trait only applies while she is casting a Spell. The ruling isn't changing THAT aspect of her trait at all.

Rules Question: Consecutive Ranged Attacks

When using a spell that creates Consecutive Ranged Attacks (eg: Kuro's Fire, The Fire From Within), can a follower who can make a ranged attack (eg: Firestorm Legion) combine with one of these Ranged Attacks or (in the case of Tsuruchi's Legion or multiple attached followers with ranged attacks) more?

It can combine with the first one.

An event is revealed within my event phase,I use shogun's barrack to refill the province face up.

What happens if ANOTHER event is revealed? Does it resolve?

No, although it will next turn if it is still in that Province during your Events Phase. Each Province is only checked once for an Event resolving.

Where do you get that from?

The detailed sequence of the Events Phase on page 76:

Do the following for each of your Provinces, going from left to right:

* If there is a face-down card in the Province, turn it face-up.

* If the card in the Province is an Event, it immediately resolves if a copy has not resolved previously this game. Then, whether it resolves or not, discard it, replace it with your Dynasty deck¹s top card, face-down, and skip to the next Province.

* If the card in the Province is a Region, you may immediately pay any costs and bring it into play attached to the Province if the attachment is legal. If the Region is legal and has no costs (and most do not), you must bring it into play. If you do not bring the Region into play, discard it and replace it with your Dynasty deck¹s top card, face-down.

You go from left to right and give each Province one and only one chance to reveal its card (if it is face-down) and then immediately resolve it if it is a Region or Event. That is the only time these cards resolve.

I see the following in the Diamond Edition Rulebook:

"Resolve any Events and Regions as soon as they appear"

on p56, talking about the Events Phase,

Yes, as opposed to "after revealing everything". This is a broad-level clarification that you don't wait to see all the cards first, which is needed because that's how Regions USED to work, and it's how a small portion of our players always have handled (and still handle) Events as well. It is not a precise rule. Page 76 carries more weight.

"An Event resolves when revealed in its player's Events Phase"

on p58.

I'll agree you have a point there. Taken in isolation, this says they would resolve, but the more detailed description of the Events Phase later contradicts it.

rules for 4 March 2004 [JEFF]

A card that enters a province face-up during the events phase is not considered revealed, even though everyone can read it? It seems your saying that "reveal" means something different during the events phase than it means during the rest of the game.

Revealed means revealed. The statement "An Event resolves when revealed in its player's Events Phase." is overly broad and does not accurately describe exactly how Event resolution is handled. Page 78 is the most detailed description of the process, and it's accurate.

Question for Jeff

I had a player last night tell me that if I used Eye of the Needle to pay for a follower of Ratling Village that I couldn't gain the honor. Is this true?

It is true. You did not pay the Gold cost of a non-Shadowlands Creature card. You paid the Gold cost of an action on a Region. [DE p. 71]

Question about Kurohito

Ok, I feel a little silly for asking this but since i'm a new player it's needed. What happens to the loser of a duel of personal honor that Doji Kurohito creates? Do they become dishonored? I'm just wondering.

Wow. So many folks have answered this correctly already, it's almost like I don't even have to be here.

Duels kill the loser unless the duel says otherwise. Kurohito doesn't say otherwise. So...

Follow up question to Xushen/Kuro's Fire

The obvious follow up question is how does Kuro's Fire interact with Tsuruchi Technique? Do the extra 3 points count towards Kuro's "total attack strength"? If so, can you use Tsuruchi to boost the last of your attacks above what Kuro's could normally produce on its own?

Yes and yes.

More Chieh

The only real problem I see with this new rulling is can an follower bow to combine a ranged attack while shes casting an ranged attack spell I assume that this is not the intention of the design team...

Ranged attacks can only be combined if they could be used individually and separately at the same time and against the same target. Other cards attached to Chieh may not combine their attacks with hers if the only reason she can make one is her trait.
