Rules for 23 October 2003

Zen Faulkes, sent 24 October 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Encircled Terrain

I play Encircled Terrain in a battle, and before it resolves, my entire amry is destroyed of forced out of the battle. Does the terrain still resolve since I cannot target a Defender?

Yes.

The Goldfish problem (was Re: [L5R-CCG] Rules for 22 October 2003)

[D]oes anyone have a guaranteed method for me to win every game of L5R I ever play?

Almost. I just have to figure out how to stop the goldfish from dropping the cards.

Duct tape. C'mon, Zen, you should know that. You used to live in Canada.

But then it can't shuffle. Hence my dilemma.

Can a tied battle still destroy a province?

I beg Jeff or Zeb to please answer this question!!!

Zen answers questions in a large batch once a day, after he gets the digest from the list's server. Give him at least twenty-four hours before you start worrying why he's late, please?

For those who are curious, I was setting up new computer last night, starting from absolute "format c:" scratch. I still haven't transferred a lot of the data over from my old laptop. Expect the Rules Archive and Steel and Iron to enter a bit of a lull for a while because of that.

Rules Question

What happens to the dynasty card contained in the province where I put my Togashi's shrine (or Shinsei's shrine) at the resolution of Regions of Rokugan ?

Discarded. Precedent: Rules Archive, specific cards, Shinsei's Shrine.

An attacking army cannot destroy a battle if the result is a tie. A tie means "the attackers force equals the defenders," so by definition, an army in a tie cannot exceed province strength plus opposing army.
