The restriction against targetting cards in the unit with actions is only in place during the battle, and "wears off" at the end of the Resolution Segment. The unit is destroyed, however, after the battle, which is outside the timing window of the "no targetting" restriction.
You are correct -- provided that the unit survives the battle (which is the case that people care about). If the unit dies during resolution, you will still not be able to save it (e.g., with Feign Death). Sorry for my goof.
