Rules for 25 August 2003
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Luring Tactics and Slaugther the Scout ?
If you use Luring Tactics on an opposing personality and move him to an adjacent prov can you the bow that same personality to use slaughter the scout or do you have to have a personality already there?
Another Personality must be in the battle (Rules Archive, Slaughter the Scout).
Can some one give me a good explanation on how Rekai Exp2 works vs Slaughter the Scout? My understanding is if there is only one defending personality and rekai moves in she targets first for the action but the opposing player can still get off slaughter the scout and they both die.
She moves. Slaughter the Scout is played, destroying her. Her action continues to resolve (Winds of Change rulesheet), so the Ranged Attack might kill the opposing Personality.
You cant use Rekai to shoot someone who ambushes [one of your other Personalities] if she is not there right? if so Whiy?
Correct, because she cannot legally target a card with her Ranged Attack that she cannot opppose (Ambush text).
Rekai + Not Another Step
I was wondering what exactly happens when you use Rekai's ability to shoot into a battle and modify it with Not Another Step, can you move into a battle next to one which has units in it and shoot something in the battle next to the one Rekai is moving into.
Yes.
Duels, Gaheris, and Storms Oh My!
I have a few questions on how Moto Gaheris and Storms of War interact with action card that are played as focuses when in a duel. when Gaheris is in the current battle can the other player play the above mentioned reactions during a duel against another one of my personalities?
No. Reactions are actions (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 47).
when using a card that is played as a focus during Storms of War do the have to bow a follower or personality to play the card?
Yes. Reactions are actions (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 47).
Is that the correct printing of Gaheris? On my version it states other players instead of opposing players. The information is taken from L5rshop.com.
There is only one printing of Gaheris. Obviously, the text on an actual card is more accurate than the transcribed text in a database. :)
A Wish Granted : question
Can I bring into play a personality with higher honor requirement than my current family honor with A Wish Granted ?
Yes. Rules Archive, General Rules, Honor Requirements: "Personalities' Honor Requirements need only be met during the Dynasty Phase."
A few questions
Ashura and to do what we must. A friend played a to do what we must of his ashura on my 7 fo unit. he said "i kill ashura, therefore your follower so I can tddwm the unit" I said it didn't work because my unit was never a legal target hence he could never play the card in the first place.
Currently, the unit would not have been a legal target.
Can a house of tao player play introspection on the free ring, provided he has it in his starting hand?
Currently, yes.
If you bow a shugenja for a third spell effect and drop the ring of air, can you unbow said shugenja with the ring of air?
Left for Jeff.
if i dirty politics a refused iai challenge, do i automatically get 7 or does the samurai get a chance to seppuku first?
Currently, seppuku first.
Can I use both a noh theater troupe and court chambers or rhetoric on the same gain (ie first ntt it to copy, then reduce it to 0 with court chambers, or steal it with rhetoric)
No. Court Chambers and Rhetoric are played "before" a player gains honor. Noh Theatre Troup is played "after."
Force bonuses and such
Why are we asking so many Diamond rules questions?
Because it is possible to sanction a Diamond tournament through Organized Play now. Although tournament judges can handle these questions, many people want "*Official*" rulings.
I thought Jeff wasn't going to rule on anything until the cards were released.
I'm not answering anything specifically Diamond related (though I have been answering how some cards *currently* work, and the answer in the Diamond environment is frequently the same). Jeff has been answering some questions about how things will work in the future, because he knows with much grater certainty what the cards will say than me or Vaughn.
