Rules for 19 August 2003
A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Greetings,
Taunt Bowstrings
When I have an opportunity to use the second ability of Taunt Bowstrings if I am using a consecutive range attack ability can I: target the other range attacks on other personalities[?]
If you're asking if you can make consecutive Ranged Attacks in this situation, I'd say no. The card says you're allowed to make "*a* ranged attack" -- meaning one.
still not bow the person[?]
Provided you only make one.
must all the target's be in that same unit?
Yes.
Bloodied Ground
Are the focus values negated by ISotF?
No. Bonuses add to particular cards (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 31), and no card's value is being raised.
ISotF, Tacs
Isn't the tac force bonus the result of an ability on the personality[?]
Show me where it says "Force bonus." Hint: It's not on the Personality. :) Tactician Personalities have a trait printed on them. That trait allows them to perform an action printed in ink *in the rulebook*.
Wretches questions
Suppose that I have a Wretches in play, and that I use up all three of its tokens (for its follower ability, or to feed my Hungry Ghost, or whatever). There's no destruction clause, so the Wretches stays in play, right?
Yes.
could I use Otomo Ambassador to give control of the Wretches to an opponent? [I] s Wretches still considered to be a gold-producing holding if it no longer has any tokens?
Yes. Yes.
Rules for 17 August 2003, Part 2
While Maho cards are not 'shadowlands' per se, they were in fact ruled by Rich to be 'Shadowlands Tainting' for storyline purposes.
Rules and story are two separate things. I'm a Deputy Rules Guy, not a Deputy Storyline Dude. From a rules point of view, cards that respond to the "Shadowlands" keyword do not also automatically react to "Maho."
A Question About Overlaying
When I overlay Yoritomo Exp2 over Yoritomo Exp and then overlay Yoritomo exp3 over Exp2. What exactly can Yoritomo do and what does he do for the army if anything?
Traits replace, abilities add (Gold Edition ruilebook, pg. 36). Remember, "ability" means text prefaced by "Limited," "Open," "Battle," or "Reaction" (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 33).
Bloodied Ground
Are the focus values negated by ISotF?
How can they be?
A Samurai's Fury. :) Great card, very underused.
