Rules for 17 August 2003, Part 2

Zen Faulkes, sent 18 August 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Rules for 17 August 2003

is a Maho card considered a Shadowland card?

No.

Really?

Really.

Is there the possibility that this will change when Diamond releases?

Unlikely.

Personally, I strongly dislike implied traits. Most got put into the rulebook because some particular card got printed without an appropriate trait, or were created to "retrofit" old cards to have a new trait.

[Re: Sound Strategy]

Your going to have to put in the floor rules that you can't change the order of your discard pile, that you can't use your discard pile as tokens for farmlands or anything else.

Pffft. It takes a line in the Rules Archive, if that. There's nothing in the rulebook that even hints you can voluntarily change the order of your discard pile, and the rulebook explicitly says that you should have tokens available at the start of the game.

What if your a clumsy idiot and knock your discard on the floor?

The same as happens now if someone knocks cards to the floor ("Oh no, how do I know what was played and what wasn't?"): you do your best.

Do we then need a judge to come over to determine what the top card was?

The judge wouldn't know unless he or she had been watching the game.

How about when units are put into the graveyard during battle? Do they count as the last card played?

No, because they are not "Action cards."

How about cards focused during a duel?

No, because those are used for focus value, not played for effect.

How about cards discarded for RED?

No, because those are not played for effect.

[2 questons Ancestors and the Last wish

When you bow to attach an ancestor does the ancestor enter play bowed?

No (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 30).

If not some of them could use their ablities right?

Yes.

Can the Last Wish destroy a fortification?

No.

Is the Fortification an opposing card?

No. (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 74)
