Rules for 27 June 2003, Part 2

Zen Faulkes, sent 28 June 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Rules for 25 June 2003

We all agree to target, cost and effect as the order. Right?

Not exactly. Gold rules, pg. 46: "*You* must choose all targets when you announce an action, before you begin paying any costs" (my emphasis). Only the player taking the action must target before paying costs. Other players target as needed -- typically, right before effects happen.

how does Scouting Maneuvers fit into this? if I target my unit with Overwhelmed can I cancel my destruction and still have my opponent do his portion of the action[?]

No. See Gold rules, pg. 45, and Rules Archive (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rulings).

and can I use the Last Wish with the same effect?

No.

The Dark Path of Shadow

If you attach a spell to a personality who is both a Ninja and a Shugenja, and one of the effects of casting the spell is an honor loss to yourself, does it affect you?

Yes. See "The Keyword rule," Gold rules, pg. 33 for an explanation of what a "Ninja card" is.

the effect is coming from the spell but the spell in this case is being performed by a Ninja!

Irrelevent. The stronghold prevents losses from "Ninja cards," not "Ninja actions," "Ninja effects," and so on (stronghold text).

Daigotsu Lobbying

[Can you lobby with Daigotsu if your family honor is higher than all other players?]

Yes. The Archive entry is a minor misspeaking that's fixed now.

I know that Jeff and the rest of the rules Junta is gone until at least Monday[...]

Not all...

Also, if someone could contact Jeff at Origins[...]

You're kidding, right?

Incidentally, I prefer short and direct questions over 11 paragraph questions with four mathematical variables. :)

The Dark Path of Shadow

if a spell cast by Hoseki or a Kiho by Goju Hitomi, which both are considered ninja effects when used, make a dark path of shadow player lose honor.?

Yes. That a card produces a "keyword" effect does not make it a "keyword" card. E.g., kiho produce spell effects, but are not spell cards.
