Rules for 20 April 2003, Part 2

Zen Faulkes, sent 20 April 2003 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

Rules for 20 April 2003

Doesn't that mean that if Voitagi challenges a samurai, he gets +1/+1, if he challenges a Shadowlands Personality, he gets +1PH, and if he challenges a shadowlands samurai, you choose which one to get?

And here we have an object lesson in what happens when you make a ruling without reading the cards. :( I forgot what rewards For the Empire gives...

The above is correct. Sorry for the confusion. At least I pointed people towards the correct source...

rules question(Jeff, Zen, etc.): Kyofu and Kaiu Walls

Is it true that overlaying ignores the Kaiu Walls restriction on bringing hadowlands cards into play since overlay is not considered entering play and does not trigger entering play effects (such as the loss of honor)

Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 36. C'est vrai. [Zen waves to the francophones reading the list]. It's true.

Overwhelmed/ A Test of Courage question.

I attack my opponent and he blocks with two people. I return for training blocker B and he cancels with a test of courage. I then use overwhelmed against him.

See Rules Archive (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rulings/#Action_cards). This one:

Since he can't target blocker B he would have to destroy blocker A

2 Rules Questions

Is an event considered to be "in play" for the duration it resolves?

A very few events specifically say they remain "in play," so those are in play, by card text. But I sense that's not the real question. I don't particularly want to give a general answer to this unless you can provide an example of why this matters.

I don't see anywhere that the Doji Nagori from L5R experience that has 4 chi, is not considered an MRP.

It's in there. Specifically, here: http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rulings/#Version
