<snip> 2. I have 2 units and its my opponents turn. Both of my units are bowed. My opponent plays ambush on one of my units. Can I play tireless assault to straighten my bowed unit, but not have it join the ambush? ( as thats not allowed per ambush text)
Yes.
Er... How does this statisfy Relevance?
You're RIGHT! It DOESN'T!
It's not legal because you know beforehand it will not actually give you a unit in the battle. This is a REVERSAL.
new preview : Cove
Correct. As soon as a unit assigns or moves into the attacking army at this Province, the Cove's effects will happen to it when the battle ends. Moving out of the battle before then will not help.
Does the effect still happen if the province is destroyed in Resolution?
Yes.
Rules question
Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng: Unique. Shadowlands. Lose 4 Honor. Place a number of +1/+1 Porcelain tokens on the Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng equal to this Personality's Chi. This Personality gains the Shadowlands trait and the ability "Battle: Fear 3" while the Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng is attached. The Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng cannot be moved among Personalities. When the Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng is destroyed, destroy this Personality. During each of your Events Phases, remove a Porcelain token. When you remove the last Porcelain token, destroy the Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng.
Shiro Shinjo: Items you own have +1 Focus Value. Reaction: Bow your Stronghold after one of your Personalities is destroyed to return to play an Item that Personality had. Attach the Item to any of your legal Personalities, ignoring costs and entering-play effects.
Would the "cannot be moved among Personalities" clause on the Mask stop Shiro Shinjo's ability from yanking the Porcelain Mask out of the pits of Jigoku and slapping it on someone else?
No. You are not moving it from one Personality to another. You are bringing it into play from the discard pile.
Note that the Mask would not get any Porcelain tokens, and you would not lose 4 Honor, as those are both coming-into-play effects.
The Rules Team is currently debating how literally to read the Masks' self-destruction clause.

One more thing - Could I play Tireless assault on the Unit who *got* ambushed in order to straighten them?
No. Units involved in the Ambush are not in your home.
I forsee a yes on this because of previous rulings on similar abilities such as Daidoji Rekai Exp 2 - She can use her Range in battle because it's legal for her to move in even if it produces no results, or to shoot a unit / follower with more than three force in order to move in.
Tireless Assault must target a unit in your home, by card text, so it cannot be played on a unit in the battle, regardless of how similiar cards have been ruled.
Questions!
1) With Stand Against the Waves, is all targeting simultaneous?
All the targeting is done before any of the bowing is.
2) My opponent has personality Bob and a bowed follower attached to Bob. I have Hound of the Lost, some random fear effect, and Citadel of Daigotsu. Can I use the fear effect on Bob's unit, react with Hound of the Lost to target the follower, and then use the Citadel of Daigotsu to "bow Bob regardless of force"?
That looks legal. The Hound will make the Fear bow the Follower regardless of Force, then the Citadel (which has to be used after the Hound due to wording) makes the Fear "also affect [Bob]".
3) I think I missed the response to this one... Is the bowing of the shuggy for Facing your Devils a cost or an effect?
Cost. He "bows to challenge".
Citadel of Daigotsu
are shadowlands cards immune to fear out of this stronghold?
No.

Reactions must be played as soon as their triggers are satisfied. [GE p. 48] Focusing in a duel adds to the duelist's stat as soon as the focus card is played. [GE p. 61] So, Overconfidence must be played when the focus happens. If the focus card is face- down, you cannot wait until you see it.
So then, I'm assuming that if I used an honorable Doji Kuwanan XP3 with an Armor of the Golden Samurai attached to challenge Hida Kuon to a Test of Might, then I could Overconfidence any focus value he played (even face down)??
Forwarded to the Rules Team.
Rules Question JEFF
Can my opponent play Corruption's Price on me when I bow a Shadowlands Holding but do not have a jade card or non-shadowlands holding? I said no because he doesn't have targets for the entire action.
You are correct. You MUST destroy a Jade card or a non- Shadowlands Personality in addition to the Holding, and you cannot take a targeted action without a target.
Ruling Question
If I play a terrain from under an Armor of Sun Tao, and then Kachiko Exp 3 cancels the action, does the terrain go back into the armor or is it destroyed?
It is put in the discard pile (not destroyed), same as if playing it from your hand were canceled.
rule question.
can you play defend your honor in reaction to having your personality die dishonored due to another players action?
No. The loss is not coming from an opponent's card. The source of a loss or gain is the card that the loss or gain effect is on. Losses and gains that are not written on cards do not come from cards unless the rulebook specifically defines them as such.
rules - scout/oracle of earth
Is it legal to use the scouts action of playing a terrain to then use the oracle of earth to lock it down.
The Scout does not have an action, but yes, you may use the Oracle of Earth's action in conjunction with a Scout.
rules questions
1) can kakita muneimori cancel the kyuden doji's SH ability when being performed by a non- courtier samurai?
is the samurai using the sh ability performing a political action?
Yes and yes.
2) Can I use "badge of purity" to negate the chi loss from spells like "Contemplation of Osano'wo", "drain the soul", and "the greatest costs." and still have the rest of the effects resolve?
Yes.
Shrine of Daikoku Question (JEFF) (Spoilers)
The text says "Target one of your bowed Gold-producing Holdings after Shrine of Daikoku enters play. While the Shrine is in play, that Holding produces one more Gold when bowed to produce Gold."
I don't see anything on here preventing this from making itself a 2-for-3 holding, since it enters play bowed (not that there's anything wrong with 2-for-3.
It looks like that's legal.
Kakita Munemori Question.
I bring Kakita Munemori into play, one of my opponents shugenja cast The Wind´s Truth to get the two honor from munemori, can I bow the Munemori I just bring into play to cancell that Wind´s Truth?
No. The honor gain happens before Munemori enters play.
Monkey Question
OK, here's the situation. My opponent has Shosuro Aroru (5 chi) and I have a 3 chi peep with Monkey Magistrates. Aroru issues an Iaijutsu Challenge to my peep with the Monkey. Can I use the Monkey's reaction?
Iaijutsu Challenge is another player's action, and it targets your Personality. Yes, you can use the Magistrates.
Shrine of the Sun / Chrysanthemum Festival
Shrine of the Sun : "Limited: Bow and destroy the Shrine of the Sun to target an event card in play or in any discard pile. End all ongoing effects of that card. Shuffle the Even back into its owner's deck. If you have not resolved that Event this game, the Event no longer counts as having resolved this game. "
My opponent's Chrysanthemum Festival went off earlier. He's now at one province. Can I Shrine his Festival to win if I've made sure that the one left is the one the Festival gave him?
No. Gaining a Province is not an ongoing effect. You do not gain a Province constantly for the rest of the game -- you only gain it once.
Defenders of the realm versus Desperate mesures
How does defendes of the real work with desperate mesures? as you've also destroyed your province before you destroy target's province when defenders is played, your province is already gone... does it get retroactively not destoyed? or you still loose your province?
Nothing is retroactive here. The destructions are implied to be simultaneous by wording, and you don't have to force them to be sequential to avoid a timing paradox, so they really are destroyed at the same time. So, Defenders of the Realm will spare both.
Quick Question
Are Winds in play?
Yes.
