To all those complaining, let me posit a scenario. (Just speculation.)

I appreciate the thought, but please don't speculate. Speculations turn into rumors, which turn into wild misconceptions, which prompt inappropriate assumptions.

Kitsune Gohei + Face of Fear

Kitsune Gohei's ability reads as follows: "Battle: Bow to destroy all followers in a target unit. This is considered a Fear effect." Face of Fear reads "Reaction: Play this card immediately after producing a Fear effect to have it effect a personality leading a unit as if s/he were a follower." So does this mean that Kitsune Gohei + Face of Fear will wipe out any unit not immune to fear?

That's exactly what it means.

open warfare - dark path of shadow ruling question

Maybe the card is clear but i still need a confirmation does "open warfare" negate the use of the send home ability from dark path of shadow stronghold, or you can still use the ability?

The Stronghold ability can still be used.

I agree that two formats is a good idea, but when there is absolutely no push for the older cards, from the company that used to advertise things like 0 banned cards and such, which is one of the reasons I started playing the game in the first place, it makes me wonder.

The thing no one ever remembers from that ad is that it also said "900 cards". Even Gold alone is close to 1,500.

Question

If you use Kaelung to issue a duel...can I use Investigation to cancel it, since he has the Kolat trait?

The traits of an action are only those of the card the action is printed on. Something like an Iaijutsu Challenge coming from Kaelung is not a Kolat action because only the traits of the Iaijutsu Challenge card are used. [p. 34]

Yoritomo Soetsuko

I have a question about Yoritomo Soetsuko's ability.
Reaction: Bow before one of your Personalities in this army bows due to another player’s card effect to negate the bowing.
Now if the ruling on Winter Warfare and the Ninja stronghold is still that being sent home bowed is one action

The ruling is not that "send home bowed" is one action. The ruling is that the bowing effect is contingent upon the going home effect, and is an exception to the rule that all effects of an action that can happen, do, even if some of its other effects are negated or prohibited.

Soetsuko will negate the bowing but not the move home.

A Test of Courage/Kaneka's Strength Question

OK, this came up on a tournament I was in Saturday. My opponent used Kaneka's Strength. I said Strike and used A Test of Courage. Now, what happens?
A. A Test of Courage cancels the sending home part of Kaneka's Strength (my answer) B. A Test of Courage attempts to cancel the entire duel, which has already resolved, so nothing happens (my opponent's answer) C. The sending home is the result of a duel and not an action and therefore there is nothing for A Test of Courage to target (my opponent's second answer) D. Something else entirely

A Test of Courage cancels the entire action. Since the only part of the action that has not resolved yet is sending your Personality home, that's the only thing that doesn't happen. According to the rulebook, the duel is not canceled or undone since it has already occurred, even thought the entire Kaneka's Strength action has been canceled.

I follow all the previous about abilities gaining traits depending on the card they come from. How about this one though...

Is this a Ninja action now?

No, because the Battle action of discarding for a Force bonus is not on Yudoka's card. Only the word "Tactician" is, which is not an action.

This leads us full circle to my question from before BB hit the street. For the purposes of 'Lady Moon's Curse', would the Yu and Tactician abilities be wiped out?

No.

If not, then why not? They're abilities that come from the rulebook, but which are not (by your above logic) printed on the personality.

And that's "why not".

Sure in Phoenix decks. What base Phoenix gets you 4 chi for 5 honor, which then you can oath to 5 chi.

You're telling me a 0/4 -HR 5g out-of-clan Personality is better than a 2/4 -HR 7g in-clan Personality in terms of all-around utility because I get to play Oath of Fealty and make him 5C? Someone here is confused. I think it's me.
