Question on 1KYoD

Okay, this has probably already been answered, but does anyone know where to actually send the order from for 1KYoD?

[L5R-CCG The Cardinal Rules???

The Cardinal rule that really be puzziling me and my friends is: If any card or Stronghold Contradicts these rules, the card or Stronghold takes Precedence!

We have run into this problem. If i use The Spell The Master Impirsoined which make another player's unit leave play till the Start of my next turn. Under the Token Rule on page 44 of Dark Allies it Says' "If a card leaves play in anyway, remove its tokens (Including Followers tokens) from the game. Tokens never go into the discard pile. Even if the cards are returned to play , it does not regain any tokens it had". Now this seems to be easy one.... the answer is in the queston but the spell targets the whole unit and master imprisoned says:" return the UNIT" That would include the tokens right at least the followers?

It would include all tokens.

Next One, Monk Advisor's give some bad advice and tell one of my peeps to attack me, his own commander, I have it under contorl i know i can defend against my own attacking personality and i know he is under my control giving me a unit on both sides of a battle but my opponet uses a duel and starts a duel between my to personalities, In the Rule book page 61 under duels and challlenges it Says" Two of your own Personlities can never challenge or become involved in a duel with each other" This one got to conflict with rule book. maybe it is not a legal target? that seems to make sense in this case.

The duel would simply not happen in this instance.

we have also run into the same type of problems with False Alliance.Lets say i ally on the attack can i switch sides in mid battle (In battle A) still have people attacking in battle B? Then, can i use the master of water , Gift of Water Dragon, or, Superior tacts ex. move him into the battle i allready played false alliance in and have people on both sides of same battle.

Moving your units between battles will keep them in the armies they're allowed to be in, not necessarily the side they started on.

Yoritomo Heishiro and Ports (Jeff or Zen)

Reposting due to no pesponse...not even by non-officials...(shock)

I did reply, actually.

A question came up on the Mantis Website (Tsuruchi's Arrow) about Yoritomo Heishiro being able to benefit from Port Towns due to them being considered Ports due to the Foo Rule. What we were wondering is if you are able to bow the region to give him his force or chi boost?

Yes. There is no rule that says Regions can't bow.

using the double chi kiho

Can you cast double chi with a monk or shugenja on himself as a reaction to entering a duel. you State the action, then choose a legal target ,finally cast it so the target is'nt bowed when you target so is it legal?

It's legal.

Does the same go for the fire oni Motechi? can he target himself and raise his chi by hiw own chi when entering a duel?

Yes.

Armor of the Mountain question....

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but just to be sure...

Armor of the Mountain says that the personality cannot move into or out of battles.

Actually, it says "You may not move this Personality into or out of battles with actions."

but, does that mean an opponent's actions can't, for instance, send him home from the battle?

It doesn't mean that. He still can.

Scorpion Distracter Question

Is the person who bows to pay the cost of a Scorpion Distracter considered to be taking a political action?

No. The action is taken by the Distractor.

Palm Strike Question [BB]

This is a request for clarification of the wording of a Broken Blades card: Palm Strike.

According to the rulebook, I have to bow a Monk or Shugenja in order to cast a Kiho. This Kiho lacks the words, "Bow one of your ...." Instead, it says, "Target one of your ...." This seems much like the Fire and Air intent/MRP.

So, the questions that I have are:

1) Do I have to bow the Monk to cast this Kiho?

No. This is ERRATA.

2) May I have a Monk or Shugenja (at home, perhaps, or in the Battle) bow to cast the Kiho, and then target one of my Monks with no weapons, etc., who remains unbowed because he's not doing the casting; he's simply the Monk without Weapons being targetted.

No. The Monk you target IS the caster.

4) How, precisely, would you word this card to reflect actual intent?

Just like it is now. The problem is the unnecessary "Kihos always bow the caster" rule in the rulebook, which I will be removing shortly.

Draw Them Out, Stolen Records

Someone brought this to my attention.

Draw Them Out 0G Political Reaction: Play before a player who has already drawn Fate cards this turn draws one or more Fate cards. The next five Fate cards that player draws this turn (including the ones about to be drawn) are discarded immediately after being drawn. Lose 1 Honor. Flavour "What deal have you made with my brother, Heikichi?" FV 3

Stolen Records

Limited: Target another player. That player shuffles his or her hand into the Fate deck, then draws the same number of cards.

So, I was wondering if this two card six gold combo really does kill someones hand minus one to three cards. Please tell me I'm missing something here.

That combo looks legal to me.

Corruption's Price question [Jeff]

Do you have to meet both parts of Corruption's Price to use the card?

Corruption's Price targets both the bowed holding that the one additional card, and the destruction of the additional card is not optional. Since targeted actions cannot be taken if all targeting requirements cannot be satisfied, the answer to your question is "yes".

Sorrow's Path Question

If a person attacks with three personality's and none have followers, right before resolution does all 3 die or just one?

The Attacker can decide to do either. A Personality all by himself, with no cards attached, is still a unit.

encircled terrain/armor of the mountain ? for Jeff A.

OK, here is the situation:

You have three peeps attacking a province: two with the new Armor of the Mountain and one without. You play encircled terrain as your first available action, at the end of the battle it resolves, and you target the one peep without the armor on as the one that will stay. Will the other two be forced to stay since you can't move them into or out of a battle because of the armor (and the terrain was your action,) or will they go home as normal?

They will stay.

A few questions

Ok, these questions have come up during tournaments in my area and was curious as to the official view on them:

1) It was debated that if you kill your own character (To Do What We Must, Desperate Act, etc.) that Be Prepared To Dig Two Graves could not be played. (As far as we could tell it should be legal to play it, but just checking)

It is legal to play by the Gold Edition wording.

2) If someone attacks and you defend a province that he is not attacking (or say there is no defense at a province you attack), then at the end of that battle you have theoretically "won" (as you have more force than their 0) and therefore can play cards like Prepared for the Enemy or use abilities like Ikoma Fudai's. (is that legal? We assumed yes.) But at the same time since no army is destroyed you can not play things like Famous Poet...

There is no winner or loser in a battle with only one army during resolution. [p. 58] Cards like Prepared for the Enemy aren't legal.

3) Which resolves first? Encircled Terrain or Sorrow's Path? (we assumed terrain before the path took effect)

"Before the Battle Action Segment ends" happens before "before the Resolution Segment begins". The Terrain goes first.

4) If someone is saved from moving out of a battle with Test of Courage, if moved out of the battle again, is Test of Courage able to be played again? (We assumed no as he wouldn't be able to be targeted.)

No. As of Gold Edition, A Test of Courage targets the unit it's played on behalf of.

5) If someone attacks and you destroy (duels, ranged, etc.) his army before the resolution, have you "destroyed" his army? (Came up with Famous Poet...)

No. [p. 58 again] The only time you can "destroy an army" is during the Resolution Segment of an attack.

Stolen Records/ Mantis History lesson

Too many posts to snip. Can we have an official ruling on the Stolen Records/ Draw Them Out combo?

A little patience, please? You have to expect a *little* delay on questions that get asked over a weekend, you know.
