Plains of Fast Troubles + Defensive duty
Hello all .. I checked the accumulated rulings .. and did not find either of these cards listed.
Action Title Defensive Duty
Rarity/Edition C2 A Perfect Cut
And
Plain of Fast Troubles
My question is if you use defensive duty to go get a peep. plop them into the plain of fast troubles .. then bring them into play are they still discarded at the end of the battle ?
Yes.
Under Hand question
Is any of the abilities of the Under Hand political?
It only has one ability, and it's not Political.
Double Chi
If one of my personalities cast \221Double Chi\222 on another personality who already had the Double Chi Trait, would that personality benefit from it and how?
The Personality would not benefit. Traits are either present or absent. Adding Double Chi to someone who already has it does nothing.
Could I cast \221Double Chi\222 multiple times on the same personality?
It is legal, but no more helpful in the duel than casting it once.
The reason I ask is 'Toturi Miyako' has a similar ability.
Toturi Miyako: Unaligned Monkey Clan Samurai The last card focused by Miyako in a duel adds its Focus value twice. If Miyako has the double chi trait, it adds it three times instead of twice.
Miyako doesn't matter. She does her own special thing. Don't apply her peculiars to all traits.
Question on outdated wording templates
Horde Playerquite a lot of old cards refer to a Yogo Junzo's Army player ( cards printed during the Clan war era), or to a Shadowlands Horde player(cards printed during the HE era), like Hidden heart of Iuchiban, Matsu Toki or the West wall of Otosan Uchi Exp. These cards where printed using a wording template that assumed that Yogo Junzo's Army or Shadowlands Horde was the name of the faction. With the Gold Edition wording, the name of the faction is simply Shadowlands, and these cards are now usable with the cost reduction/special habilities/removal of the HR by one of the shadowlands strongholds. The west wall of otosan uchi is gold legal, and was a tourney price for the shadowlands FACTION, and it's cost reduction makes it non boxable for the horde stronghold, because that stronghold reduces the cost of a card by for, and the wall cost can't be reduced. A Spawning grounds player can't box the wall either, as it now according to this reference on the archive:
West Wall of Otosan Uchi (Experienced)
* Shadowlands players using any stronghold besides "The Shadowlands Horde" must pay 6G for this holding, because there is no longer a "Shadowlands Horde" Faction. [JA, 25 September 2001]
it costs 6 gold to them, 3 abose stronghold production.
I want to know why the rules junta has taken this decision, since it breaks with a well established rulling that was based on designer intent and that made equivalent the terms "shadowlands player", "shadowlands horde player" and "Yogo Junzo's army player".
Probably because the exact card text is "The West Wall of Otosan Uchi costs 3 less Gold for a Shadowlands Horde or Kitsu Tombs player", and the Kitsu Tombs is NOT a Faction, but rather one Stronghold in particular. Grammatically it's more natural to read "Shadowlands Horde" as one particular Stronghold as well IN THAT CONTEXT, since it's ambiguous. I also wasn't the designer for that set, so I didn't know the intent and didn't feel I could guess.
Dave just now tells me that it was supposed to mean all Shadowlands players, so there you go.
I also wish that this was reversed,
No problem.
The West Wall of Otosan Uchi (Exp)'s gold reduction applies to all Shadowlands faction players, not just those using the "Shadowlands Horde" Stronghold. [REVERSAL]
Focus Question
Blade of Truths Weapon Unique Reaction: After this Personality enters a duel, name a Focus value. The opposing player may not play Focus cards or Reactions with that Focus value during the duel.
Bayushi Kwanchai Text Scorpion Clan Martyr * Soul of Bayushi Tangen Reaction: When any bowed or unbowed Scorpion Clan Personality enters a duel, Kwanchai bows to replace the Personality in the duel. Battle: Once per battle, if Kwanchai is home, send a bowed or unbowed Scorpion Clan Personality in your army home without bowing and move Kwanchai into your army.
Rule Book: If something refers to a value that isn\222t specified or is missing, such as the Focus value of a Follower token or the Gold cost of an Event, consider that value to be 0. Effects that try to change a value that a card does not normally possess failóthe value will always be 0.
So if one of my Personalities who has the Blade of Truths attached enters a duel and I name 0 as the Focus value, my opponent can not use Bayushi Kwanchai\222s reaction because according to the Rule Book if there is no Focus value it is considered 0.
Kwanchai can still be used.
#1: Kwanchai's Reaction is used "when" a Personality enters a duel. The Blade's is used "after". Kwanchai's Reaction will always go first. Remember, the first tiebreaker when you have a timing problem is the exact wording of the cards.
#2: The Blade of Truths refers only to Reaction Action cards when it says "may not play Reactions". Yes, this could have been made clearer than just using the ambiguous word "play".
