Rules for 14 July 2002

Zen Faulkes, sent 14 July 2002 to the l5r-ccg mailing list, the l5r-useful list

A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings,

(RULES) Waive Gold Cost

If a card's Gold Cost is "waived," is it also "reduced?"

No. Archive, General rules, Costs: "Putting a card into play "without gold cost" is not the same as reducing its cost to zero. The card still has its cost; you are simply not paying it. Thus, you will not gain honor for playing an aligned Personality in this way. [DW, e-mail, 2/4/99]"

"Waived" is a synonym for "without gold cost" and I'll treat them as such. I'll tweak that entry to include the actual word "waived" a little later.

Doji Nagori

Is the 4 chi Doji Nagori in the L5R experience decks an MRP[?]

No. See Archive, General rules, Versions.

Iaijutsu Lesson and Tokeru Q's

if I have a Mirumoto Tokeru in play with 2 weapons attached and I challenge someone to a [Iaijutsu] lesson, do I get the double chi trait?

Yes. The weapons are still attached. The effect is written on Tokeru, and Iaijutsu Lesson cares only about what's written on the weapons.

If someone targets one of my peeps with a Kolat Assassin or Master, can I redirect it to him with Shinjo Technique? Can it redirect [Iaijutsu] Challenges and [Iaijutsu] Lesson's?

Yes, no, no, and no, in that order, for those cards. Ask, "Could your opponent have played the card on his or her own Personality?"
