Hataki, does he target?
actually i was wondering on this since the jade bow bows as part of the action to cause the range 4 attack, wouldn't that mean that the jade bow would be bowed when you unbow Hataki?
The Bow does not bow. Only the Personality.
Hataki, breaking all the rules
It's seems Hataki exp is very popular these days, what with his infinite combo's. But let me point out on big flaw is the fact that you have to be on defense to use it. Now if you could some how use his ability while attacking then he would be broken...
Wait a minute, isn't there an open card that lets you be considered defending while you attack. Well looky here:
Hida Technique Text Battle: Target one of your units in this battle. Cards in this unit can be targeted and affected by cards as if they were defending even if they are in the attacking army. If you are a Crab player, this Personality gains +1F, permanently.
With this you can not only shot everyone in the battle, but when the battles over move Hataki to the next province and take that one too. Blam, Hataki taking over the empire.
Hataki's ability isn't usable while he's defending, it's usable while YOU are the Defender. Hida Technique does not combo with him.
Hataki, NEW QUESTION
Crap... I came up with a new question:
Since the movement effect doesn't happen in a battle where Hataki is already present and uses his ability, is he able to straighten himself if he is targetted by Ambush while he is bowed?
Yes.
Toturi Miyako Question
Where I could find the current and full versi\227n of the Foo Rule?
An Oni's Fury rulebook, pp. 33-34.
Question on Kosaten Shiro
Hi List, just wanna be sure about this one:
If I play Trading Grounds for a holding, does it still produce 4 gold......
I think so but ya never know !
Sure. Why would it not?
Can I still use it to pay for a 5-gold cost gold or honor producing holding, such as Poorly placed gardens... etc...
Yes. You can even use it all by itself to pay for one, since those cards only cost a Kosaten Shiro player 4g.
Ki-Rin's Shrine and Bayushi Yojiro
Does the +1 personal honor add to your honor if you pay full for the personality??
These bonuses add before honor is gained, so yes, they increase the honor you get for buying an in-clan Personality at full price.
Isawa Riake Move Question?
Isawa Riake
Should read, "Isawa Riake 1F/3C 5HR 8G 2PH Phoenix Clan Master of Water. Shugenja. Soul of Isawa Tomo. Elemental Battle: Bow Riake to move a unit from one of the defender's Province's to another." [Erratum, Gold Edition rulebook]
Aftermath
A resolved battle is still a battle until the Attack Phase ends. (Note that only defending units remain in battle after resolution.) [ZF, 8 June 2000] Units in a resolved battle are still part of an army. (Note that only defending units remain in battle after resolution.) [ZF, 8 June 2000]
Here's the question. Let's say the attacker has one unit attacking Province A. Defender defends with Isawa Riake in Province A. Attacker resolves Provinces B, C, D and no provinces are destroyed. You get to Province A, can Riake move the attacking unit to Provinces B, C, or D even though the battles are resolved?
Yes. Each of those is "another of the defender's Provinces".
And if she can, what happens to that unit after the attack phase is over. Just curious.
All attacking and allied units at all Provinces go home bowed after the last battle resolves. All the Defender's units go home without bowing when the Attack Phase ends. [AOF rulebook p. 57]

Just to check, since this is different from the way I thought it worked.
If my opponent lobbies for the favour and I impose a cost to the action using Scorpion Distractor, then they can choose not to pay and have the attempt cancelled, and then just bow another person to redo the lobbying.
That's how it works.
Test of the Jade champion
I have a question about this event, The event reads: Each player may target one of his or her bowed or unbowed Shugenja to "test to become the Jade Champion." Each targeted Shugenja, starting with the one to your left, may focus once. If one of the Shugenja has the highest Chi plus Focus value, he or she becomes the Jade Champion for the rest of the game and his or her controller gains 3 Honor. Once per turn, the Jade Champion can cast a Kiho without bowing. My question is, say your shugenja was double chi, would double chi apply in this?
The Test of the Jade Champion is not a duel, so Double Chi does not work.

An action is not cancelled just because you don't pay the cost.
That's debatable. The rulebook says it "fails", which is mildly ambiguous, not having a formal game definition. To clear things up as well as bring L5R in line with other AEG games, the next rulebook is going to formally say they're cancelled.

That doesn't apply here anyway.
1. They bow a personality to lobby 2. I bow the Distractor to add a cost to that action 3. They do not pay 4. The action is cancelled (as per card text) 5. They bow a personality to lobby
You may only lobby for the favor once per turn. So unless they pay, they cannot lobby for the favor until their next turn.
A canceled action doesn't count as having been attempted. [rulebook p. 45] It certainly doesn't count towards any limit on the number of times it's usable per turn.
questions
It´s legal to move rekai into a battle with no units, using her ability. ?
It's legal as long as you satisfy Presence and Relevance. She's legal if you
* either have a unit in the current battle already or are moving one of your own into it, and you
* use, target, or affect a card already in the current battle, or move one in
Rules Question
If a Follower receives -1C from a Corrupted Dojo and *does* give a Chi bonus to its Personality, is this bonus Chi reduced?
Yes.
Correspondingly, if the Follower gains a Chi bonus and has "+" by its Chi, is that Chi bonus it gives to its Personality increased?
Yes.
