A rules digest from the L5R CCG rules team, copied from the mailing list archive for Oracle of the Void. The askers' names are left out. Rulings are as they stood on this date; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Jeff - if your one personality dies during the battle under the current APC rulebook you cannot play the reaction as you no longer satisfy presence.
Or is this going to change also?
If you'll re-read the rulebook, you'll see that reacting to one of your Personalities leaving battle or leaving play from a battle also satisfies Relevance. It's legal right now without changing anything.

Secondly why does it look for units that are not present in the current battle (i.e. the one it resolves in) at resolution only?
Suspended Terrain only has its special, stronger bowing effect on units that are in the current battle when the terrain resolves. Moving a unit to another battle before then will save that unit from the Terrain. However, moving an attacking/allied unit to another Province will ultimately not save it from the standard bowing that happens to all attacking/allied units.
Street to Street question [Jeff]
Jeff, please excuse me if I missed your answer to this question from the 20th, but I don't remember seeing it yet ...
I didn't answer since I saw a lot of archive quoting.
If Street to Street is in play, can followers use their abilities (e.g. ranged attacks)?
It depends. They're in the army but they're not in units. You have to make your judments based on those two facts. For instance, Spearmen can bow for a ranged attack since they're still opposing the other army, but two Spearmen cannot combine their attacks because no two are in the same unit.
May I .....
May I ...
- achieve an Honor victory after using my Kaede Sensei but playing Amnesia to "forget" that I can't win by honor?
Amnesia can only target another player's Sensei, so, no, you cannot.
- use the Imperial Favor in a battle under the effects of a Ravine?
Yes. It's not an action on a card.
- lobby for the Favor with less honor than my opponent if I'm playing with the Ruined Fortress and he with the Spawning Ground?
No. As of Gold Edition, you may not lobby unless you have more Honor than each other player. Who has which Stronghold doesn't matter.
- defend my opponent's Bayushi Shoju (inexp.) with a Purusha and make the Ranged attack before the switch of fate hands?
It depends. The player to the left of the active player gets the first reaction to the beginning of a Battle Action Segment. Most of the time (since most games are 1-on-1 and the active player is usually the Attacker), Purusha will shoot first in your example.
- select one of the personalities of the plyer of my right under the effect of a Occult Murders or a Rampant Plague if I'm using an Yodin Sensei?
No and no.
Question about "Soul of.." Personalities in Gold
Quick question about something I may have missed. Page 69 of the APC rulebook, under Gold Storyline Rules:
""Soul of...." Personalities are not reprints and do not grant Gold eligibility to the earlier Personality cards they name."
Last thing I understood is that original personalities could be substituted for their "Soul of..." counterparts in official tournaments. Has this changed?
No. That part of the rulebook was inadvertently copied from the Gold Edition one, which is now outdated.
Shield Wall vs Personal Standard
Shield Wall is a follower with the special ability that this unit may not be targeted by ranged attacks.
Personal Standard is an item that says the personality it is attached to may be targeted as if it has no followers attached.
When both are on the same personality, which one trumps?
The Shield Wall.
Quick question (Jeff, Zen)
will Taeruko ability to fetch a fortification to say a province that has crossroads attached get the three less gold clause...?
No. Crossroads reduces the gold cost of Holdings IN the Province, not being attached to it.
May I .....
I don't know if I'm wrong, but destroying a Sensei seems to be not the same of ignoring it. I think that if I destroy my own Kaede I'll still unable to win through by Honor. Anyone could tell me it, please?
You are correct. Destroying a card does not end any effects it has had, and Kaede Sensei permanently removes your ability to win through honor.
And about Purusha I'm really confused. In a list of cards, I've saw some clarifications about this personality and it seems a little different of the other "before the defender's first action" reactions.
It is no different.
Dragon Screwed Again
Yeah, ain't it though? :P I have to admit, I was rather offended when Wayan was reprinted in gold without the "Dragon Clan" trait, given that he (and all the other Hoshi monks) swore fealty to the Dragon clan when Hoshi became clan champion.
No cards in Gold were MRPed for purely storyline reasons. None. We specifically avoided doing so across the board because of the unfavorable player reactions such changes engendered in Jade Edition.
Dragon Screwed Again
Not so. Saves from duel threat, gives you the plus 2 force you need, and works like god on wayan. Either you can A) give Wayan +2 personal honor which beefs up his bonus, or B) Discard a Wayan token to turn it into a permanent 4 force bonus. Definetly worth it in my opinion.
But I do recall that someone (Jeff/Zen?) did say that Wayan's force bonus lasts until the end of the turn (or as long as the original bonus, which ever is shorter - implied).
Correct. At the end of the turn, Wayan Exp2's increase wears off and the bonus goes back to its original size. Obviously, Wayan's increase also goes away if the bonus itself does.
