Defensive Duty
if i play this card and go through my deck and put a persoanilty face up on a province that had plain of fast troubles, and then bring him into play using the region, i still have to discard the personaility even though hes not in the province anymore. Correct?
Correct.
Whether Yu like it or not...
Anywho, out of the silliness and into the topic of attrition. While it has been one of the lesser-known complaints (compared to tournament mechanics and other business), it's about time that it's been addressed. It makes perfect sense for the losing army to take a few guys with 'em (IIRC, there was a whopping one card that did this before
There were two: To The Last Man and The Final Breath. And that's not counting the dozens of ways of killing things during the battle.
Now we have Yu, which will hopefully set us down the road to fixing this problem. The mere notion that the problem was addressed is a major sign of AEG's love for the game; take a bow, guys and gals.
It's easy to see it as a problem if you're used to attrition-based games (which account for pretty much every other battle-based CCG out there). Personally, I haven't considered it a problem for some time. It's simply the way the rules of this *highly abstract* wargame work. Something you have to base your card selection and play choices around. Something to use to your advantage. I have personally found that in Legend of the Burning Sands, which has attrition-based battles, it was actually harder for the army that went into a battle with less total Force to come out ahead at the end. Now that sort of thing should be hard, especially if the difference is large, but being too hard impacts the games complexity and makes it undesirably unlikely to recover from falling behind in the buy-stuff race.
And, yes, Yu was added during the brief time the game lived with Wizards of the Coast.
Shiryo no Shoju vs. Shiryo no Taisa
This came up during a game tonight:
Can you use Shiryo no Taisa to cancel the action on Shiryo no Shoju? For a long time, I've played that you could, but tonight someone stopped me and pointed out that Shiryo no Shoju says "before the Battle Action segment" while Taisa says "during a battle." (full text below, from Websune)
Reactions that happen "before the Battle Action Segment" do not occur during battle. They do NOT happen "before the Defender's first action" or "at the start of the Battle Action Segment". Shiryo no Taisa cannot be used on Shiryo no Shoju.
Shosuro Gardens and Iaijutsu Art
Here's a Question, My Kwanchai duels someone with 2 chi(or higher) with = Iaijutsu Art, can Shosruo Gardens letm e retarget who my dueler is, = reguardless of Chi? Say to a personality with a Sword? =20
When changing targets, the new targets have to be legal ones as well. This is a general rule on retargeting.
Show of Strength Question
Show of Strength states that you may not play it if you have already played a battle or open action this phse. Just to double check, this would mean that you can NOT use a Superior Strategist to go fish for it, correct?
Correct.
