Hi everyone!

Regions: When a Region comes up in a Province hat already has a Region card in play, what happens?: 1) The new Region automatically replaces the current Region 2) The player gets to choose which to keep.

Neither. The new Region can't attach to the province, because there's already an attached Region. So, because there are no special rules for unattached Regions, it just sits there. You can discard it as normal, or let it sit there occupying a province.

Experienced Personalities: Can I have a Unique Experienced Personality in play along with his/her non-unique inexperienced versions?

Sure. Uniqueness only matters when it conflicts with other Unique cards of the same name. You cannot, however, have several different experience levels of the same personality in play seperately if they're all Unique.

Matsu Domotai gains a force bonus equal to the number of Lion personalities in the battle...

When is this calculated/recalculated?

Whenever he's part of an army.

eg 3 Doms attack. Each is 3F. If Tsudao sends one home are the others still 3F or do the become 2F?

They become 2f. Domotai's bonus constantly adjusts so that it is always equal to the number of other Lions in his army.

2 Doms attack (assigned in the Inf stage). Later Matsu Whatsisface (I play Crane...) the 3F Cav guy is assigned to the battle. Are the Domatais 2F or 3F

3f.

After Domatai kicks my lily blue butt, and the rallies, and then accessibles into another Doji province (*sob*) are they: 1 enters (1F) 2nd enters (both 2F) 3rd enters (all are 3F)

Yes, exactly.

And yes, I have encountered all 3 situations (always test your decks thouroughly) and I continue to get worked over by them.

Try In Search of the Future. I hear Domotai hates that card.

ps: Is there a complete set of spoilers for APC out there? (am I about to get punted for asking) I'm in love with the new stronghold (yay finally a real duelling SH).

Please don't ask for or provide spoilers over the main mailing list. It's extremely bad form. AEG officialy frowns on complete spoilers for the next set, and regardless of all arguments for their existence, it would be a fairly nice gesture to respect the wishes of the company that produces the game we all love.

pps: another question just occured to me. Is discarding the Imperial Favour considered a use, or only if the text of the card says it is. eg. Imperial Edicts and The Imperial Standard. (actually I think this one may be in the archive, I'll go look...)

Only if the card says that it is. There are already existing card effects that discard the Favor without being an actual use of it.

Is it possible to move a unit (attacker or defender) into a battle that has already resolved?

Sure.

If so, what is the result? My perception would be nothing, the battle has already been resolved - they just sit there and wait to go home. Of course this question is moot if the answer to the first question is a negative.

You've got it in one. There's no intrisic advantage to moving a guy into a resolved battle, but sometimes it's a valid strategic option. I mean, if you all of a sudden realize that you're outforced, and the only place you can move one of your guys is to a resolved battle, run him over there!

Zokujin - I assume the MRP makes the Zokujin's unit totally unable to straighten by any means during the next turn after its ability is used.

I assume that the restruction applies ONLY during the specified turn, and that the Personality can be straightened at other times including during the turn in which Zokujin's abil;ity was used. I wonder if this MRP to Zokujin et. al. was intentional.

Yes, the restriction only applies during your next turn. You could easily use the ability, and then straighten (High Morale) and use it again. As for whether or not the MRP was intentional, why does it matter? Wording cleanups have a long tradition of changing the effet of cards in unforeseen ways. As long as the card is still practically usable for it's intended purpose, the specifics of the ability don't really make a world of difference.

Torrential Rain - Does the battle have a Resolution Segment?

No. It ends instantly. Without resolution.

I assume this means that this prevents actions (such as Counteracttack) that would be played after the Resolution Segment of this battle.

Absolutely. This goes equally well for all cards that end a battle without resolution.

Forgotten Tomb says :

"Shadowlands During your Dynasty Phase, you may place any number of Shadowlands Personalities and Shadowlands Followers face up under the Forgotten Tomb from your hand or Provinces. You may bring cards under the Forgotten Tomb into play without Gold cost during one of your Dynasty Phases after a number of turns equal to each card's Force, paying all non-Gold costs. If the Forgotten Tomb is moved or destroyed, the cards move or are destroyed with it."

"after a number of turns equal to each card's Force". Count other player's turns for it?

Nope. Anything that refers to a number of turns counts your turns only.

And another question...

Moto Tsume XP2 says:

"You cannot assign Tsume to the same battle as a unit with no shadowlands cards, and vice versa."

Can anybody clarifyme that sentence?, i'm spanish and in my language it could be interpreted in two different ways.

It means that Tsume can only be assigned to a battle if there are no units without Shadowlands cards there (in your army), and that once he's assigned, only units with Shadowlands cards can be assigned to his army. It doesn't affect units in the other army at all.

A couple of questions:

1. Surrender and The Winds Truth If you use surrender when losing a battle and your opponent choses to destroy only part of your Army, can you use TWT on the honor gain only - or can you only use TWT on the total honor gain/loss resulting?

There's a seperate loss and gain, not a net adjustment. Like normal battle gains, you can't subdivide the total gain, but there are two seperate things happening. With a high enough Chi Shugenja, you could easily steal the gain and leave the loss.

2. The Celestial Swords It was my understanding that when putting (say) The Celestial Sword of the Dragon into play, all Dragon Clan Players should gain 2 honor but when I read the card the phrase "If you are a Dragon Clan player..." implies to me that only you (being a Dragon Clan player, that is) do. Is this correct, or should I read the card as "All Dragon Clan players gain 2 honor."?

Read it as it is. Whenever you play a Celestial Sword, you *and only you* gain two honor.

Q1: What happens if two players uses " take the initiative " at the beginning of the game?

The last player to play a Take goes first. The other player feels really sad.

What happens if one of these players has two " take the initiative "?

He most likely takes the first turn. Here's how it works. Starting with the player to the left of the person who will normally take the first turn (this having already been determined by honor + cut), each player has an opportunity to play a Take. Whenever someone plays a Take, *they* become the new first player, and the player to their left gets a chance to React to the beginning of the game. This keeps going around and around until everyone runs out of Takes. At that point, the person who played the last one starts their first turn. You can, btw, play multiple Takes if you drew them, even if you're already going first just to get them out of your hand.

Q2: What Stronghold traits, actions, or reactions cannot be used if the Stronghold is bowed?

Traits are always on, even when the card or Stronghold producing them is bowed. Actions (including Reactions) can only be used on bowed cards and Strongholds if they specifically say that they can.

1.- Code of Bushido May I react with "Code of Bushido" if my opponent refuses a Iaijutsu Challenge to force him to accept the duel?

Sure. That's the 'responding to an action' part of Code.

2.- Vigiliant Keep of the Monkey + Ancestors May I also ignore Ancestors honor requirements with this stronghold?

No. Ancestors are no longer followers in any way, shape, or form.

Can you put 0 force personality (e.g Goblin Wizard) under the Forgotten Tomb and straight out into play in the same Dynasty Phase ?

Absolutely.

If so can you do the same thing if you're using the Spawning Grounds Stronghold ?

Yes. The Spawning ground force bonus doesn't happen until you control the card. You only control cards in play, and the Forgotten Tomb specifically implies that the cards under it are not in play yet ("You may bring cards under the Forgotten Tomb into play..."). A 0f Oni (for example) could be placed under the Tomb, and then get brought into play immediately at 1f.

Hi everyone,

recently my friend asked me a qns which i still am not sure myself. So i hope u all can help me on this. As wat Hantei says, it will not join toturi army player. but how abt a toturi army player lose 20 honor to get control of Hantei. Is that possible?

Nope. Personalities that won't join you also may not be taken control of by you using cards like Kolat Master and Hantei XVI's ability.

We are having a discussion over on the Ratling list and we are at an impasse.

The question is: Can you use Ratling Conjurers during a Battle if they are in your fief. You always could before but the new targetting rules may change that.

You still can. Ratling Conjurer is unaffected by the new targeting rules, and his action still fulfills Presence and Relevance when you're using it while you have Rats in a battle.

I thought I had already sent this question in, but since I haven't seen it answered, I'm assuming I somehow botched the address. Apologies if this is a duplicate message.

I usually try to answer questions sent to the list about every 2-3 days, depending on how many questions have piled up. If you really, really need something answered *today*, it's probably better to send it to me directly, and note that you need an answer by a certain point. You're much more likely to get a quick answer out of me that way.

Test of Might says to 'Bow the loser'. Iaijutsu Art says that the loser is dishonored. The previous version of Iaijutsu Art says that the loser is dishonored, but not destroyed.

The Gold Edition rules state: "In a standard duel, the winner destroys the loser, and is unaffected."

My question: Is the loser of either an Iaijutsu Art or Test of Might destroyed? The omission of the text on the new printing of Iaijutsu Art has caused the question to be raised within our play group, and I'd like to have a definitive answer before our Seeds of War GST.

Anytime there is an alternate penalty for losing listed on the card, it automatically supersedes the standard penalty. Neither Iaijutsu Art or Test of Might kill the loser.

I just noted that Kaukatsu's ability is no longer Political (if Goshiu's ever was). Is this deliberate, or an oversight that needs correction?

I don't think that basic Goshiu's ability was ever actually Political, unless the card itself listed it as such. It's definitely not Political by definition, so it looks like the card is correct as printed.
