Rules for 20 June 2001

Jeff Alexander has posted his thoughts on the matter, which are slightly different than mine. But me, personally? This way: Jeff Alexander ruled that card effects that turn focused cards over before a strike is declared were not "revealed." (A ruling which has not been criticised that I've seen.) By doing so, knowingly or not, "reveal" and "turning a card to show it to all players" became slightly different things. In other words, an ambiguity in card / rules text. That creates the "space" for an intent-based ruling.

I'm stating this again, because it apparently wasn't made clear the first time:

The term "reveal" IN THE CONTEXT OF A DUEL refers only to the step between striking and resolving the duel. In the context of a duel, cards are "revealed" at, and only at, this step, irrespective of being or getting turned face-up at any other time.

Outside of duels, "reveal" means what it means in the dictionary.

The ruling on Snow Crane Tattoo is an intent-based one, not a result of one of these definitions.

dishonorable dead question.

I understand that if your personality dies while dishonored, you lose honor equal to his printed personal honor, but I wonder if that is still a valid definition.

It is.

There are so many ways now to change a personalities honor, on a permanent basis, that his printed personal honor may have nothing to do with his permanent hono, while honorable.

There are only two defined possible values for a stat: current and "printed" or "base", which are the same thing. Death while dishonored incurs a loss determined by the latter. Other, intermediate values like "permanent honor while honorable" don't matter unless specifically referenced by card text.

On a related note, if I Force of Will a personality, who is honorable, and then he is dishonored, will he be killed at the end of the turn when his stats switch back?

Unlikely. His Chi will change by the same amount as it did before, just in the other direction. Same with his Personal Honor.

Centipede Tattoo problem

I recently added two way of deceptions to my tattooed deth deck. Which has caused a slight problem for me. Take the example where I declare an attack sending no personalities. I then use a centipede tattoo to move a personality into one of the empty battles. I then use way of deception to switch place between my centipede tattooed personality and another, since its not considered moving into the battle the centipede's "No other Personalities can move into this battle." clause doesn't come into affect. Then, and heres the problem, I move my centipede tattooed personality _back_ into the battle, the clause states "No _other_ Personalities can move into this battle" but since its the same personality moving into the battle _again_ does the clause come into affect?

No. It's the same Personality again.

Otomo Sensei question/removed from play

Once again, "discard" means to put something in your discard pile, "discard from play" means to make the card no longer in the game so you can never get it back again, right?

Right.
