Shahai
That is what is confusing me, I guess: WHY is she not experienced?
We thought it was a trivial point? We weren't sure at first whether the Gold tournament format would use the same grandfather clause for Experienced personalities that Jade did? We wanted to minimize Gold Edition references to pre-Gold cards to (heh) minimize confusion? We didn't want people buying extra packs looking for the nonexistant Gold Edition non-Experienced Shahai? We couldn't decide whether to make her the Experienced Iuchi Shahai or the Experienced Dark Daughter of Fu Leng?
Take your pick.
And I don't see why you can't put Shahai and Exp Iuchi Shahai in your deck
Because they count as each other for uniqueness AND they're not two different experience levels of the same card.
and why you cannot overlay if this is not an MRP.
MRP is irrelevant. You can't overlay because "Shahai" is not an Experienced version of anything.
Deeds and Yoshi Sensei
Deeds, Not Words. Political Open: Target a player. Until the end of the turn, that player gains 1 Honor in addition to any other award when one of his Personalities wins a duel, and 1 additional Honor for each opposing card destroyed in the Resolution Segment of battle. Honor gains from any other source are counted as losses instead of gains for that player.
Yoshi Sensei. All clans. Sensei. When a player pays full Gold cost for a Personality of his or her Clan, the player cannot gain over 1 Honor, regardless of the Personality's Personal Honor. Your card effects do not cause Honor losses for other players.
How do these two cards interact? If I'm running Yoshi sensei and Deeds my opponent, what happens to his honor gains. Nothing? Are they cancelled? Does he lose honor?
They're still converted into losses, because the ruling on DNW is that the source of the loss is the same as the source of the gain would have been, not DNW itself.
Furthermore, by extension of the ruling that value minimums and maximums are always applied last, DNW would turn the gain into a loss before Yoshi Sensei would cap the gain to a maximum of 1. Your opponent would always lose the full honor.
A Test of Courage MRP
Reaction: Play this card when an action is moving one of your target Personalities out of battle. Cancel the action. You cannot bow the Personality to take actions or target the Personality with actions until after the turn.
There has been a debate on Deathseeker about what exactly it means. As I read it "one of your target Personalities" means that the reaction now targets your Personality when played.
Another interpretation is that the adjective "target" refers to the other player targeting your card, and so Test is pretty much the same.
So, official folks, which is it?
As far as the wording goes, the latter interpretation is correct.
HOWEVER, the first paragraph is still true...not because of this card's wording, but because of the way targeting gets redefined in Gold Edition.
Ruling non-permanent effects
Permanent effects on a card do not disapear if the card leaves play and returns to play at any other time, is this rule the same if a card ,that is being afected by an "until the turn ends" effect, leaves play and returns on same turn?
Yes. It doesn't matter what the duration is. Leaving play won't end it early, period.
Poisoned Weapon
The timing is extremely relevant. In the earlier ruling, Jeff stated that bonuses to Chi were applied after penalties to the printed Chi. So, just as [Fortress of the Dragonfly] will not save you from [Force of Will], neither will the temporary bonus of focusing in a duel. In both instances, your Chi is reduced to zero, then you try to add a bonus to an already dead personality.
I did not say that. I said that when a stat is changed directly to some new value, it stays at that value because that is now its new current value. It does not become the new "base" value and gain continuous bonuses again. This has been the ruling since Imperial Edition.
It is NOT true that all penalties are applied before all bonuses are. It is NOT true that a Personality dies from having 0 Chi if his Chi is 0 at some arbitrary time before all the math is done.
After all, FotD does not say you get the bonus 'after' anything, but that you receive the bonus as long as it is in play.
When you set a card's stat to a particular value, that number becomes its new, current, total value. You don't do any more math. Any continuous bonuses currently in play are assumed already to be in place.
