Low market and whispering archive

L5R CCG Rules board, 18 September 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi,

Acording to this errata http://www.l5r.com/2012/09/17/errata/ if I want to atach the spell in open action wchich cost is 3 gold and I have in play one whispering archive does the low market cost reduce the spell cost by 2 and then goes the trait from whispering so the spell is for free or does the trait goes first and low market reduce the cost of spell by one to the 1 gold cost?

Whispering Archive: Your Spells enter play paying 1 less Gold.

thx for reply

The spell would cost 1g.

According to the rules on reductions "to a minimum", unrestricted bonuses & penalties are applied first.

As a slightly more complicated example, if you had 2x Whispering Archive in play, a 2g spell would attach for free with Low Market, since the Whispering Archives reduce the cost to 0g; the "to a minimum" clause on Low Market would not cause the cost to be increased.
