Den of Iniquity vs. Empty Victory

L5R CCG Rules board, 14 June 2012 to 18 June 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 14 June 2012

Which one wins, assuming the person with Den of Iniquity also has the highest honor? Can a player use Den of Iniquity to effectively negate Empty Victory (for himself)? Can a player even use Den of Iniquity since it carries a penalty of "may not" for something he "must" do according to another effect?

Until your Events Phase two turns from now begins, after an Action Phase ends, if the active player has one of the two highest Family Honor totals or is tied for the highest, he must declare an attack and choose another such player as the Defender, assigning at least one unit, if legal.

Political Limited: Bow this card and target another player's dishonorable Personality: His controller loses Honor equal to his base Personal Honor, or 3, whichever is lower. You may not declare an attack this turn.

Under discussion.
