I have a question regarding Overlaying, specifically with some Henshin cards. I think I just need clarification on what exactly is tracked and what isn't.
Asako Nobunori, a Phoenix Henshin, has a Melee 4 battle action. If he uses it, later in the battle dies, then overlays from the discard pile using Oyo's Second Lesson (http://imperialassembly.com/oracle/#cardid=5853), can he use his ability again? Now normally I know that "card memory" keeps track of things like whether an action is used or not, and the exception would be if a card gets returned to a face down state (deck, province or hand). The key difference I see comes from the Overlay rule:
" In overlaying, the overlaying card is placed on the overlaid card, and then the overlaid card is removed from the game. Any effects on the overlaying card end, its attachments and tokens are discarded, and for reference purposes it is considered to be the overlaid card. The overlaying card inherits the game state of the overlaid card, including bowed and dishonorable status, attachments, tokens, ongoing effects, delayed effects, and references to the card. " (http://rules.l5r.com/EE_Glossary_O)
The bolding is mine. Among "reference purposes" is ability usage included?
