Perfect Sacrifice

L5R CCG Rules board, 5 June 2012 to 8 June 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

There was some debate about this in the Preview thread, and it doesn't appear that anyone has officially asked yet, so:

Perfect Sacrifice Dark Virtue * Perfection Battle/Limited: Choose your performing Samurai: Give each Personality and Follower in his unit a Force bonus equal to its current Force. Before this turn ends, destroy his unit.

To what does 'its' in "its current Force" refer?

My natural inclination is that 'its' recommends that each card references its individual, respective current Force. However, I could (and for the sake of ridiculously large armies would be very happy to) read 'its' as referencing the unit, as that is the last defined Force-having subject prior to the use of the pronoun 'its'.

So, c'mon, be a pal, tell me that when Daigotsu Murota has two Nakanu Technique followers, Perfect Sacrifice gives everyone a 6f bonus.

"Its force" refers to the force of the Personality or Follower under consideration, so a 4F Personality with two 1F Followers would become an 8F Personality with two 2F Followers.
