Snake Tattoo (EE) vs Yasuki Palaces XP

L5R CCG Rules board, 30 January 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 30 January 2012

If I try to use the battle action on Yasuki Palaces XP targetting an enemy attacking Tattooed personality and my opponent reacts with Snake Tattoo to move him to an adjacent battlefield. Is the personality still a legal target?

If the answer is no, are there any EE legal Battle actions that Snake Tattoo does not negate?

Relevant Text: Yasuki Palaces XP Battle: Even if this card is bowed and even if you control no units at the current battlefield, target an attacking Personality and pay 3 Gold: Move him home. If he moved, his controller loses 1 Honor.

Snake Tattoo Reaction: After another player's Battle action targets your Tattooed Personality: Move him to an adjacent battlefield. If he is no longer a legal target for that action, negate its effects.
