Halls of the Forgotten and the Law's Strength

L5R CCG Rules board, 4 January 2012 to 12 January 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 4 January 2012

Player A with a Courtier or Magistrate target's an attacking Berserker controlled by Player B who uses the reaction on Halls of the Forgotten to delay the actions effects until the turn ends. Which of the following happens:

A.) The movement is delayed. Since he did not move, the action attempt to destroy him, which is also delayed.

B.) The entire action's effects are delayed to the end of the battle and (assuming the Berserker is still in play), The Law's Strength attempt to move the Berserker who is now at home, he does not move, and is now destroyed.

C.) Some other card interaction keeps the Berserker alive.

Would the interaction be different if the Berserker is defending (since defending units stay at the battle after it ends)?

Relevant Text:

Halls of the Forgotten: Reaction: After another player's Battle action targets your Berserker: Delay its effects on him until after this battle ends.

The Law's Strength: Battle: Choose your performing Courtier or Magistrate and target a Personality: Move him home. If this did not move him home, destroy him.

A. The movement is delayed. Since he did not move, the action attempts to destroy him, which is also delayed. After the battle ends, he moves home and is destroyed.

Similarly to Wrathful Ancestor's anti-negation clause, the "If this did not move him home" clause of The Law's Strength is not an effect, so it cannot be negated or delayed.
