A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I'm hoping to get some help with a few questions. If the Rules Team doesn't deal with this aspect of the game, please accept my apologies and I'll repost elsewhere.
Okay, face-down Dynasty cards are considered Holdings...do they have a gold cost? Or can you essentially bring as many face-down cards as you have into play as holdings each turn? With the trait, can you use an ability that produces gold for a holding (specifically, like Yasuki Dokansuto's "Reaction: When paying for a Holding, bow Dokansuto: Produce 2 Gold."...ability)? What is the base gold cost of a face-down holding in play?
Can either player look at a face-down in-play holding to see what card it was?
Thanks for your help!

Since we're not answering Emperor Edition questions yet, and the Draft Stronghold is a card in that set, I can't give official answers. However, for your questions above, I suggest you read the card pictured in the article a bit more closely.

Since this could be an extention from Kuroiban Compound questions, I'll just quote a general rule that if a card doesn't have a base value for a stat (and the back of the card doesn't have a Gold Cost), and no effect is giving it one, then the default is "0".

Again, as an extension from old Ninjutsu rulings, if you were ever at any time able to know what a card's identity was, you should be able to track and know its identity while it is in play (such as if a face-up Ninjutsu Personality was turned face-down again).
