Disreputable Deal's Focus effect

L5R CCG Rules board, 25 October 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If I play a Duel of haiku, and I focus Disreputable Deal, will I be able to get that same copy of Duel of Haiku into my hand again, or is it still in the play area until the action fully resolves? Thanks!

Disreputable Deal Political As a Focus Effect: You may put a non-Unique Strategy with a Political ability in your discard pile into your hand. Open: Bow your performing Courtier and target a Personality: Give him -3F. If he is dishonorable, his controller loses Honor equal to his base Personal Honor.

Duel of Haiku Political Open: Choose your performing unbowed Personality and target another player's Personality: Your Personality duels the other. In this duel, each Personality uses their Personal Honor as his duel stat. The duel's winner's controller gains 1 honor. Bow and dishonor the duel's loser.

The latter.

Playing Strategies:

"A. The player puts the Strategy card face-up in a resolution area, which is created for that card.

B. The player announces which ability on the card is to be used. The action then proceeds (see Abilities and actions.)

C. After the action ends, the player discards the Strategy card, even if the action did not resolve. Then, the resolution area ceases to exist."
