A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
A player, 10 October 2011
Seeking the Truth Recon Reaction: After engaging, choose your performing unbowed Scout at the current battlefield: You have Reconnaissance there. Put a non-Unique Battle Strategy in your discard pile into your hand. After this battle ends, if you did not destroy the battlefield's province or an army, discard a card at random.
Is my opponent obligated to show me the card he is retrieving? If so, why? Do I need to call a judge to see if my opponent chose a non-Unique Battle strategy?
Can I use this ruling as a basis to this question?

Cards in the discard pile are always revealed to all players. Your opponent must show you the card he puts into his hand.
