So I have been reading over the rule of presence. I wanted to confirm my understanding of it. If you are involved in a battle with only one unit in your army and that unit is sent home from the battlefield, the only action you can take is one that would move the unit back to the battlefield.
I apologize about the obvious question but I want to make sure to get this right.

Not exactly.
If you control more than just that one unit, an action moving ANY of them to the battlefield would satisfy the exception to Presence.
Also, any action that has "Even if you control no units at the current battlefield" would be able to be taken without Presence.
See here for full details.
I hope that helps.
