Game of Sincerity and Contributing force.

L5R CCG Rules board, 7 July 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If only two personalities are at a battlefield and game of sincerity is played, at battle resolution is the phrase 'does not contribute force' the same as contributing 0 force, or is it a separate effect for determining battle resolution. ie Is it considered a tie at 0 - 0 force and both sides lose their personalities and re-honor them before death instead of gaining 1 honor per card as outlined by the tie outcome in battle resolution? Or do they 'bounce' off one another since neither is contributing to the battle resolution in anyway.

Per the glossary, to contribute means to add a card's or unit's Force to an army total. During the Resolution Segment, each of those Personalities adds no Force to his respective army, thus both armies have the same total Force (zero) and both armies contain one or more units, therefore the battle is a tie.
