What does the Vigilant keyword do?

L5R CCG Rules board, 19 June 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I'm not sure if this falls under rules or mechanics, so please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong area.

I have a personality named Mirumoto Meisetsu that has "Vigilant" listed among its titles, what does this do?

Is there a full list of all these titles with explanations somewhere? It gets confusing (and honestly frustrating) as a new player learning on their own when I can find an explanation for "Kensai" but then something like "Deathseeker" or "Kolat" isn't explained. If it's not mentioned in the rule book do we just assume it's an identifier and not an ability?

\ Nothing in the general rules. Other card effects could refer to it.
