PH Minimums and maximums

L5R CCG Rules board, 15 April 2011 to 18 April 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

So, I was reading the thread about the new Lion Stronghold Shamate Keep, when somebody went and quoted this rule from the comp rules...

Maximums and minimums Rules, costs, and effects may create a maximum value of a stat beyond which its value can not rise, or a minimum value of a stat below which its value can not sink.

In the event that a stat receives a minimum value that is above its existing maximum value, or a maximum that is above its minimum, its value will not change at all until the minimum and the maximum cease to contradict each other.

Which got me thinking..., and the more I thought about it, the more the underlined part bothered me just a bit, because, ever since the 5PH rule cap for CE, this rule now effectively says PH can never change from it's base value, because by rule PH can't be less than 0, and can't be more than 5. I.e. stat has a minimum and a maximum with the maximum that is above its minimum.

At the very least the indicated rules text is completely superflous, because a maximum that is above the minimum is never contradictory, unless there is some new fangled definition of minimum and maximum I am unaware of. Just saying....

The underlined part was wrong, it should have read "a maximum that is below its minimum". It has just been fixed. Thanks for the catch.
