Obfuscation and Will

L5R CCG Rules board, 10 March 2011 to 11 March 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I got a ruling on here awhile back about Obfuscation and spells not being able to use their battle actions again if brought back from the discard pile via obfuscation on the same turn cause it never cycles into the deck or something. However, one of my friends told me that he had the card Will used against him with Akodo Shigetoshi to bring Shigetoshi back from the dead and on his opponents next action use Shigetoshi's battle action again since he was brought back with Will.

Is this a legal move? Or does it fall under the same rules as if i used a spell's battle action, then it left play and was obfuscated back into the battle on a shugenja to be used again only to fail?

An ability can be used only once per turn, unless explicitly stated otherwise in its text. This rule applies to all types of cards, including Spells and Personalities like Akodo Shigetoshi.

Assuming your question deals with Akodo Shigetoshi (Experienced 2), if during the same turn his base Battle ability is used, he is destroyed and he is brought back into play with Will, then his base Battle ability can no longer be used because the "once per turn" limit has already been reached.
