Additional actions and resolution confusion

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 February 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings! When do actions that grant additional actions completely resolve? Do they resolve after the additional action also resolves? For instance,

During a battle, my opponent plays the terrain Crippling Weather. I have a bowed monk in the battle and want to use Spinning Heel Kick to straighten him to perform one with the flame. Is he able to do so? or will he just bow again after spinning heel kick resolves?

Also

I have a random muscular dude attacking a province which my opponent bowed and killed with an action (say Fearless Defense). I reacted with the action card I Do Not Die So Easily to prevent my personality's destruction. Is it legal for me to play With My Last Breath followed up by I Do Not Die Alone or Calm Before Death? Or will my personality die from the effect of I Do Not Die So Easily before i am able to take an additional action?

Thank you!

The latter.

Greetings! Regarding this http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=89157 I just have one small follow-up question. Since most additional actions have the word "may", when does my opponent decides whether he will take an additional action or not? After the opportunity to react passes or before? Like in this instance:

My opponent attacks with a Yoritomo Naizen xp3 and uses his battle ability to attach a follower to himself. Do i ask him whether he would take an additional action before i move in my Bayushi Muhito xp2 from my home into the current battlefield? If i don't react to his battle ability and he choses not to take the additional battle action, then the window of opportunity for my Muhito xp2 to move in has passed correct?

thank you!

http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_A#Additional_action: "A granted action opportunity can be used to pass; the choice to pass is made at the point of taking the additional action."(emphasis added).

I suppose that strictly speaking, one could argue that you should decide if you want to take the additional action at the normal point in the effects sequence (i.e., when written), but since the rule above allow you to pass when you get to that additional action, I'm not sure if there are any situations where it would matter.
