Oyo Seido Limited: If you have not lost Honor from cards you own this game and your Family Honor is 5 or lower: Gain 2 Honor.
Faint Praise Open: Before the next time this turn a player gains Honor during his Dynasty Phase or from one of his own actions, he loses that amount of Honor instead of gaining it.
If I Faint Praise somebody and they triggered it by gaining honor via card text (say, Oyo Seido) would they be able to legally use Oyo Seido's ability later in the game? Is the honor loss caused by Faint Praise or by the card they owned?
Since we're on the subject, if they bought somebody for full (thereby losing honor) are they able to use Oyo Seido later in the game?
Cheers.

Yes, because this player has lost Honor from Faint Praise, which is not a card he owns (see Glossary, From).

Yes, for the same reason.
