L5R CCG Rules board, 21 January 2011 to 29 January 2011
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

May I use Leaked Information targeting my own personality then play Ambush to either cause no one on my side to assign or 2 people on my side to assign?
Leaked Information Political Limited: Choose your performing unbowed Magistrate: Target a Personality with Personal Honor equal to or lower than your Magistrate's Chi. The Personality's unit may not assign to a battlefield this turn unless your Magistrate is there. After each time your Magistrate's unit assigns this turn, assign the Personality's unit to the same battlefield (if legal).
Ambush Limited: Target your unbowed Personality: Create a battlefield (not at any province). Assign your Personality's unit to attack there. Assign another player’s target unit to defend there, even if its Personality is bowed. Other units will not move there. Fight a battle there (after this action's resolution). After the battle ends, lose 5 Honor.

Yes, if Leaked Information was performed by a Magistrate who does not perform Ambush.
[...] or 2 people on my side to assign?
Yes, if Leaked Information was performed by a Magistrate who also performs Ambush.
I have Magistrate A and Person B in Play. My opponent has Doji Ayano (Experienced)
The use Doji Ayano (Experienced)' s ability targeting Person B. I don't bow B, so Person B can't assign (Ayano text). I play Leaked Information targeting Magistrate A and Person B I declare an attack and assign Magistrate A
What happens? A Person B also assigns as Leaked Information overrides Doji Ayano (Experienced) text B Person B doesn't assign as Doji Ayano (Experienced) text overrides Leaked Information
Doji Ayano (Experienced) Political Open: Bow Ayano: Target a Personality. His controller may bow him. If he is now unbowed, his unit may not be assigned to attack this turn.
Leaked Information Political Limited: Choose your performing unbowed Magistrate: Target a Personality with Personal Honor equal to or lower than your Magistrate's Chi. Many thanks!

Personality B does not assign.
See "May not": "May not" is a wording that prevents a choice, rather than a cost or effect - for example, taking an action, assigning a unit, declaring an attack, bringing a Personality into play, or targeting a certain card. “May not” works to prevent a choice, even if the choice is part of a required procedure. Example: An effect says "The Personality may not assign this turn." If a card effect requires the player to assign the Personality, the assignment still fails and does not happen.
Curious about something from this post: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=88524
It looks like with Ambush and Leaked Information I can force assignment of more than one personality per side to the battlefield created by Ambush. It has been clearly stated that I can assign two of my personalities and one of theirs, is the inverse also true? Can I target my Magistrate and one of their personalities, then play Ambush with my targeted Magistrate against a personality not targeted by Leaked Information to have two units opposing my Magistrate.

Can I target my Magistrate and one of their personalities [with Leaked Information], then play Ambush with my targeted Magistrate against a personality not targeted by Leaked Information to have two units opposing my Magistrate.
Yes, assuming the Personality targeted by Leaked Information can legally assign at that time (e.g. he is not bowed).

Just adding one more situation to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=88524
If I use Leaked Information's effect on a personality I control and then Ambush, are both personalities considered to be performing the action (Ambush)?
Example: I use Enticement on my opponent's Samurai. Then I use Leaked Information on him, followed by an Ambush. He can't assign due to Enticement, but is he considered performing Ambush and therefore able to seppuku the 5 honor loss?

In other words, "Who performs an action?" This is a frequently asked question, so I must remind all to:
