rehonoring vs honor negation

L5R CCG Rules board, 5 January 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I'm not sure what happens if I try to rehonor my personality via some effect but another effect negates (or reduces to 0) the honor that the personality would have gained. I used the search function. However, these 2 threads seem to have opposing answers:

This thread states that the person would not be rehonored:

This thread states that the person would be rehonored:

Can someone clear this up for me please? Thanks.

Both those rulings are correct.

It depends on what effect is negating your Honor gain, whether its timing comes before or after the rehonoring would occur. So, yours is unfortunately a question that can really only be answered definitively on a case by case basis.
