Battle resolution ties with no unbowed people

L5R CCG Rules board, 31 December 2010 to 1 January 2011

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. I played a game with a battle resolution where we each had one guy. My guy was bowed and his had zero force. Do we tie and both die, or does he win because he is unbowed? I was told that if they have an unbowed guy their army's force is 0 and if all of your guy's are bowed then your army has a force of (-). Is that correct? Can an army have (-) force?

http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Battles#C._Resolution_Segment: "If both armies have the same total Force and both armies contain one or more units, the battle is a tie."

in reviewing the ruling here: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=88094 I'm not sure if i understand the ruling. so here is the question(I was the other guy he was playing.).

We had a battle and i had 1 unit and so did he. He played low Stance and brought me to 0 force at resolution. i then proceeded to bow his only guy. we both pass. I have an unbowed personality with 0 force and he has a bowed personality. who wins? or do we tie?

My idea: at battle resolution we compare total force. total force is defined as "An army's total Force is the sum of the modified Force of all unbowed Personalities and all unbowed Followers in the army"(emphasis added) http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_T#Total_Force . doesn't this mean that an unbowed unit at 0f will win a bowed unit in battle resolution? the bowed unit doesn't even contribute force right?

I thought that the hierarchy of winning in battle res is:high force beats low, unbowed beats bowed. Is this mistaken?

An army with no unbowed Personalities or Followers will (in general, ie in the absence of effects like Plains of Resolution's action) have a force total of 0.

Only an empty "army" has no force total. See Glossary, Army: A side with no units is not an army and has no Force total.
