Armor of Heavens + Relentless Conviction

L5R CCG Rules board, 27 October 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Armor of the Heavens Political Reaction: After another player targets this Personality with an action: Either gain 2 Honor, or have the other player lose 2 Honor.

Whispers of the Forgotten Limited: Bow this Shugenja and destroy this card: Destroy a target dishonorable Personality.

Relentless Conviction Battle: Destroy a target dishonorable Personality.

Restoring Order Battle: Target your unbowed Magistrate Personality: Target an enemy Personality with Personal Honor lower than your Magistrate's Chi. Move the enemy Personality home. Bow him if he moved. Destroy him if he is dishonorable.

Shame Never Dies Reaction: After the resolution of an action that moved home or destroyed a dishonorable Personality at a battlefield, target your Courtier, and bow him unless he is Scorpion Clan: The Personality's owner loses 3 Honor.

Question : if one of my dishonorable personnality equiped with an Armor of Heavens is targeted with one of these actions, what will happen ?

For example, Relentless Conviction : is my personnality rehonored, and nothing happens, or is my personnality is rehonored, then destroyed ?

Thanks : ) !

If an action has a required target that must be a dishonorable Personality, and that Personality is rehonored after he is chosen as a target, then the action proceeds. The Reaction on Armor of the Heavens is used after its Personality is targeted so it will not prevent the action from resolving normally. See Interference with required targeting or performing.

Assuming you take the Reaction from your Armor of the Heavens and you choose to gain Honor, you will not gain any Honor but your dishonorable Personality will be rehonored, then he will be destroyed by Whispers of the Forgotten or Relentless Conviction; Restoring Order will move him home, and bow him if he moved, but it will not destroy him because he is no longer dishonorable when the last effect is applied.

Shame Never Dies does not target your dishonorable Personality, so you will lose 3 Honor if an action has just resolved that moved home or destroyed him while he was dishonorable, which is unlikely because his Armor will rehonor him after such an action targets him so before that action actually moves him home or destroys him.
