A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

My opponent has a unique personality with no followers and a non-unique personality with a follower. I attempt to shoot the unique personality with a range attack my opponent wants to redirect the action to his non-unique personality with a follower. I said the personality was not a legal target because he had a follower since the required targeting for a range attack is a follower or a personality without followers.

Second question slightly different Second senario unique personality with no followers and a non-unique personality with a follower. Both personality have more force then my personality the follower does not(not sure it would make a difference if it did). I attempt to kill his unique personality with my oni-daikyu since he has more force then me. He tries to redirect it to his non-unique with a follower. I don't think he is a legal targert since he has a follower. I don't think the force of the follower matters since imperial command just changes the target from one personality to another legal personality.

Imperial Command: Reaction: When an action would target your Unique Personality, pay 2 Gold: The action targets another of your Personalities instead, if legal.

In both cases, you may play Imperial Command after it targets your Unique Personality. However, because your other Personality isn't a legal target - he has a follower - Imperial Command will fail.
